I have a beaver hide that I would like to tan all dried but it still has a little bit of meat left on it should I rehydrate it first and then scrape it or scrape it first?

If youre sending it out, dont worry about it. If you are doing it yourself, scrape it after re-hydrating

You can dry scrape a skin to thin the leather before tanning. But be very careful.Once it starts getting thin there is a risk of popping a rip in it if you go a little too far,so keep track of how thin the leather is getting as you go,and keep your scraper sharp.
You can also re hydrate it as is then throw it on the beam to scrape with a two handled flesher as it is re hydrating.
The second methos wont thin the leather however like dryscraping will but it will get rid of excess flesh. You can thin the leather during the pickle.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
