That sucks. Prefer a soaking rain vs a downpour for a couple hours.

We just drove through Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota, and the flood damage was unreal.

5 inches an hour is way too much.

Hopefully you don't have any damage done.

Is the ground wet enough the rain will soak in well, or is it dry so that it runs off and floods badly?

Keith

Our county got hit good yesterday afternoon. We were just talking about setting up some irrigation systems. Don’t have to worry about that now. At work we had 3.5”. Few miles north had 7” and just northwest of us got 10”. Luckily the creeks are empty so any flooding wont last long. Smaller Creeks were running less than half full already this morning

10-15 years ago we had a 7” rain on thanksgiving. That’s the most I remember at one time before yesterday’s rain [Linked Image]
May be some discounted compact tractors for sale soon

We just had 18+ in around 24 hours a couple weeks ago. I figure Ive pumped well over 2 million gallons out of my sump pit. Basement flooded. Houses along the Little Sioux and Big Sioux Rivers got destroyed.

No damage this morning Keith. The ground was damp from earlier, lighter rains. It didn't last long, just a line of T-storms that rolled through. We ended up with 2.7 inches in about thirty minutes.

I'm sure the creeks are high though, hope my minnow traps didn't get washed away.

Eighteen inches in twenty-four hours is crazy! I think the most we ever got in one day was seven or eight inches.

Hurricane Lee was the year before Sandy and it was about that bad. Just tropical storm strength when it hit landfall, it was stopped and held in place buy a front from the NW and I think the folks around Hershey and Harrisburg told me they got 17 inches overnight. I had sump pump and flood claims from Philadelphia all the way to Pittsburgh.

Where I'm located we got about seven inches out of Lee in 2011.
