Sorry about not updating lately!
Lots of preparations being made when we get a chance, and it’s a busy time of year here on the prairie.
One of the vendors this year will be bringing suppressors to show, explain, and offer people that are interested. For some of Coyote Days attendees, it will be the first chance to learn about them first hand, and possibly be able to start the ordering process right there! Wyoming residents can buy them from this Wyoming dealer, and through electronic filing and fingerprinting, can file the appropriate paperwork.
Residents of other states will have to have them shipped to a gun dealer in their area still.
But, it will still be a chance to talk to a person face to face, and get answers to questions you might have. I’ll keep you posted as this develops
The ATF approval time has been very quick in a lot of cases lately (5 days in one case I know of) so now would be a good time to take advantage of this.
I’ve been in contact with many of the demo presenters, and I’m impressed with what they have in store for us this year, with many new approach’s and topics covered
Like I’ve mentioned before, there will be a few more bobcat themed demos this year, but don’t worry, there will be lots of good, solid canine info shared as well.
We’re hearing from a lot of new folks this year, and many past attendees say they are bringing more people too! I know this will be one of our biggest events yet
If you’re interested in coyotes, bobcats, predators, etc., Coyote Days is the place to be
August 16th and 17th, all tracks lead to Lusk Wyoming!
Thanks, John

I’ve been asked by a few guys if there wil be anyone buying fur at Coyote Days, and yes, there will be a few buyers in attendance, and I’m sure there is still some interest western fur, and the antler market is still pretty good.
If anyone needs info, PM me and I’ll send you some contact info for those that I know are planning on attending.
And, there will be various tanned fur for sale also, and possibly some nice tanned steer hides.
I try to have a variety of vendors that carry various items
Time is flying by, and we’re getting a LOT of interest from all points
I will also add that Lusk has a great golf course, and also a really nice public pool that kids and families flock to.
Families are welcome at Coyote Days!
Have a great weekend, John

One quick update:
At Coyote Days 2024, we will have a beaver demo for the very first time
With the beaver market being spurred on by the demand for the making of felt hats, I figured a good beaver trapping demo would be of interest to a lot of people
So, I asked my buddy Terry Thompson to show the methods he uses to harvest huge numbers of beaver in northern Montana year after year, with a variety of methods and in virtually any type of setting
Terry usually does a great coyote snaring demo, but this year, his presentation will be on beaver
So, since you are coming to the land of lots of cowboy hats, let’s get back to where it all starts, with a trapper harvesting them …
Have a great day, John

Ok, I’m parked on a high ridge, waiting out a small weather front to blow through, and I have cell service. So, I thought I’d address a few of the questions I’ve had recently.
First, was asked (by non trapper) why we call it Coyote Days?
Well, the answer to that is because for several years, I’ve wanted to create an event that focused on coyotes from A to Z, and cover all aspects of harvesting coyotes - Predator control and fur trapping/snaring.
I’ve been around the coyote business for 40 years, and have met a lot of great, like minded people, and every year, I ask some of them to do a one hour ‘demo’, covering a topic that they are very well versed at, and are willing to take the time to share their thoughts, experiences, and methods with you.
I also hand pick some top notch ‘cat men from the west, and ask them to share their experiences and knowledge too.
We cover all the bases, from scouting and picking location's, to setting, and also fur handling.
The camaraderie of the group that attends is second to none, and the information available is world class, for lack of a better term.
20 demos in 2 days, and a round table discussion on Friday evening, in the new, open air pavilion.
No BS, no politics, no filler
Just an exchange of coyote and ‘cat methods, and this year, an added bonus of beaver harvesting by a true ‘numbers’ beaver guy
For me, it is a dream come true, I’m very happy to say that it has been a huge success, and I am both in awe and humbled by the people that attend
Second, we’ve been asked about food available
For new attendees, I’ll give the run down:
We have a concession stand in the main building we use, at south end of the grounds (also where the demos will be, weather permitting) and the vendors
My wife, Nicole, has a great crew that come and help her every year. She has coffee on and starts with home made biscuits & gravy in the very early a.m. both Friday and Saturday.
They will also have things like Sloppy Joe’s, a taco bar, and pulled pork sandwiches the rest of the day, until we close the building at 6 pm both nights, so you’ll have a chance to run in to the building and grab something to eat without missing too much. (The demos run non-stop for 10 hours each day)
On Saturday evening, we have the Banquet, and that features steaks on the grills, baked potatoes, salads, dessert, etc. - A typical western style supper that we put on with the help of many friends !
The banquet is also when we draw for raffles, have a few guest speakers, a Fur Fashion show, and an auction.
Cost is $25 a person, and tickets can be bought starting on Friday morning
Also in Lusk is various places to eat, and at least one or two places are open at various times of the day, so there are options to eat, off the grounds.
The fairgrounds doesn’t allow open fires, since it’s usually hot and dry in late August, but grills are ok
I hope that answers some questions
Again, on August 16th and 17th, all tracks lead to Lusk Wyoming
Time for me to get back to work
Have a great weekend, John

This is the tentative demo schedule, and we'll stick to that as close as possible, and will try to keep everyone informed of any changes.
As you can see we have a VERY good list of top-notch demos and demo presenters again for this year, and COYOTE DAYS 2024 will be a 'Must Attend' for anyone interested in canine or 'cats, as we will cover them from top to bottom, and A-Z.
Wolves and Beaver will also be the topics of 2 demos, and you'll recognize the names of the guys doing them, Mike Ross and Terry Thompson, both of Montana, and previous Coyote Days Alumni.
Motels are getting lots of calls by the sounds of it, and if you still need a room, I wouldn't delay. It seems that everyone is looking at their calendars, and realizing that time is flying by!
And after a lot of consideration and weighing all the factors, we have had no choice but to go up on the admission price of Coyote Days to $20 for people 18 and over this year. To put it simply, the costs of virtually EVERYTHING has gone up dramatically the last few years, and to be able to give some small perks to the great demo presenters and helpers, we have to raise the price to attend.
It is still a GREAT bargain, as there is so much to learn and see and take in during this great 2- day event. I know for a fact that I could have attended an event like Coyote Days 40 years ago, it would have taken YEARS off of the learning curve that I went down!
Like any other trapping event, the conversations and friendships and connections made at Coyote Days will prove to be priceless in years to come. We are a very small fraternity of people overall, and to be able to visit with folks with the same mind set is a great thing.
20 Top Demos in 2 Days!
Friday Night Round Table Discussion
August 16-17 in Lusk Wyoming
Thanks, John

Yes! Coming up fast
Ordering T-shirts later today
Have 2 guns and bear trap coming for raffles All tickets for these will only be at Coyote Days, so the winners WILL be attendees!
Demo list is getting people excited, including me
Lots of new attendees coming, and lots of interest
And yes, we’ll have more demos leaning towards ‘cats than past years, but a good blend of coyote and other demos too
I cannot stress the value of the Friday night Round Table discussion under the open air pavilion enough
All demo presenters are encouraged to participate, so any topic will be discussed and answered by a group of guys that among the best of the best.
One other thing that is asked fairly often- The Saturday night banquet is NOT invitation only! Everyone is welcome to attend, and we have local friends that attend the banquet only.
The banquet is the culmination of Coyote Days, and we try to keep the ball rolling and end on a high note, as it is the last we will see of many people until next year!
Steak fry, guest speakers, fur show, bucket raffles, and auction $25 per person, and yes, tickets can be bought any time at Coyote Days, at main desk
Coyote Days 2024
August 16-17, Lusk WY
Thanks, and have a great weekend, John

Good question! Sorry I didn’t clarify that
No, you don’t need to be present to win, we’ll call you if you aren’t here when we draw
I guess my point was that we aren’t pre-selling tickets, so we do know that the winner(s) WILL be attendees
The tickets have a place to write name and phone #
Thanks
