I only use my debit card at the bank to get CASH. I dont use credit cards but if you transact electronically all over the place I believe a credit card is safer than using a debit card for that. But nothing is safe-even sending money orders or cheques thru the mail is risky.

I refuse to have a debit card, too easy for a thief to score on somebody. I keep some extra cash in the gun safe and in the truck, and I have a credit card to use if needed. If that doesn't do it, I do without! Also, I have my bank accounts Red Flag blocked from any and all phone transfers or info.

Debit and credit cards have the same fraud protections.
One is no safer to use than the other.

Did a quick google-credit cards safer than debit even when both are fraud protected. All anyone needs is the card number to use for at many places. No exp date, No CCV number... Banks that issue debit cards have fraud protection...just like credit card companies.....

A debit card is out of your account, so the inconvenience is on you. There most likely is an investigation period and you may have to wait till your funds are returned to you.

What sort of banks are y'all using that don't reimburse you for fraudulent purchases made with your debit cards? I think I've been hacked probably a dozen times in the past 10 years and my banks always made it right. How long did you have to wait?

They notified me that if it was found to be not fraudulent, it would be deducted from my account at that time after I was notified of the findings.

I don't have an active CC. Did have...years ago. But no longer.
Wife and I have debit cards. Been hit three times in past 8 or 9 years. One was for $300 worth of Chinese food in NYC. Another was at a Ft Lauderdale, FL steakhouse. Other was for electronic equipment purchase by someone in Kentucky. Guy in KY was reportedly charged for the crime.
Twice the bank caught it first. Other time the wife caught it. All 3 times the bank refunded our money within a week.

Credit cards are much easier if you get hacked. Debit cards you can have a little delay in getting your money back in your account..Never heard of an instant refund.. Getting hacked a dozen times in ten years you must be very unlucky.

Second time this year. Both from Brooklyn NY. Hit me good this time, card was blocked as soon as I found out. There's so much crime in America today. Makes one think is there a way to turn us around?? This one made me sick to my stomach. Yah what people buy when you get hacked is literally FILTH! My mom's card got hacked and I'm not even gonna get in to detail what was bought. It was so bad she didn't even tell me she just said what category it was in, obviously in a PG way.
