I’ve been hit a couple times but the bank always catches it. Heck, my first time to Kansas they shut my card off in Illinois after I got gas. They called and I told them turn it back on it was me!! I got called one night while sitting in my recliner and they wanted to know if I’d just purchased or attempted to purchase 7 pairs of Air Jordan’s in the Atlanta Mall, lol. I laughed. They do a good job keeping track of your purchases and when something is off it apparently sends an alert. In fact, before any trip that’s not a surrounding state trip I give them a call and let them know I’ll be traveling and what dates.

Yeah, I am. Three times in the past 10 years all my info was stolen due to the negligence of companies I do business with. First was the streaming company I use, next, was a Google breach, then not too long ago our phone company (AT&T) let all of my info get stolen. I think the Google one is what led to most of the trouble. God only knows how many websites my various card info was stored on via Google.

My Cabela’s card got hit last week $1,700 at Zoro they caught it so no money was exchanged then they tried $1,000 at Samsung they caught that also new card coming.

Very little is done about CC theft if it’s not millions or the Governments money they just take the hit.

Had a credit card skimmed at a gas station in Farmington NM. Immediately, my address was changed to Buffalo NY and charges were made online with WalMart. Bank caught it. Had to file a police report once I returned to NC. Officer in Farmington knew the station and even the pump number.
Got a message at the gas pump that my card could not be read and to come to the cashier to pay. Handed my card to the cashier and he would not look at me. Pretended to be counting small pieces of candy. Once I got the card back after about two minutes, the scam was already underway. They researched my name and city through directory assistance. My coastal village did not have city delivery for mail. After that event, whenever I got mail in my PO Box that was directed to my street address, I became suspicious of more fraud.

I had my new debit card sent form my bank stolen out of a mail processing center in Portland, Oregon. They waited until Sunday when most banks aren't paying much attention to drain my account. In the intervention period they actually had video of the perpetrator taking cash out of an ATM in Portland. I asked if they would try to catch him and the answer was no. They have funds set aside for such things and I was made whole again.

It still just totally rubs me the wrong way. I did ask how they were able to get cash out of an ATM with my card and it turns out that after my card was stolen they had my card and address. My SS # which was also necessary to change my pin, was acquired through the dark internet. Apparently Target or some other store had their SS#'s hacked at some point. My SS # was subsequently for sale at a later date.

Got tagged once using a debit card switched to a liquid cards with limited amount in account so can't be tied to either checking or savings and has limited amount that I keep in it so as to limit what can be stolen. All online purchases use the liquid card after I transfer money into the account, saves a lot of headaches and stress

For all my complaining about the service at my bank they are pretty tight questioning out of the ordinary purchase. We met up with some family out of town. Went to dinner at a Casino and because we had not made purchases in that area the bank stopped that payment completely. When we noticed the money was still in there days later we called the bank and flagged a payment for that restaurant to be paid and then called the restaurant and paid over the phone.
They were glad to hear from us. lol

Yep all was done on the 4th. My first question will be why wasn't this flagged from the get go! Langley Federal Credit Union. They said it will be investigated...

If it was a mandatory sentence of at least 20 years for credit card theft, and enforced, That in my
opinion would slow it down. Our country is to woke!!

"Important Notes:

You must dispute the charge within a certain time frame, usually 60 days from the statement closing date.
You may be responsible for paying interest or late fees while the dispute is being investigated.
If the charge is disputed, you should continue making payments on your credit card to avoid late fees and negative credit reporting."

I dont use credit cards but if you transact electronically all over the place I believe a credit card is safer than using a debit card for that.
But nothing is safe-even sending money orders or cheques thru the mail is risky.

^ this Boco does exactly like I do

All is good, spent about 30 minutes with the manager of the bank this morning. I didn`t realize how often this happens. She also said to always use a credit card and never your debit. Live and learn but it's still stuck in my craw...... Prayers for those in the path of Beryl.

I got rid of credit cards years ago , when I had them all paid off, to easy to lose control on those cards !!

I only have debit cards, I know what I can spend all the time, they all been hit before but my credit cards were also hit, one just 3 days ago cleaned me out, bank is on it, always has been restored every time with in days. I never Ok'd the debit, on the last one, bank never caught it either was on the 4th of July, guess everyone was sleeping in. Not worried about not getting the funds returned, even though it is a large amount !

I don't get the worry over credit cards verse's debit cards, debit is what you have to spend, credit is what you wish you can spend one is no easier to hit than the other in my view !
