I remember seeing that adjustable slide cable with the cam loc a while back.Great idea.

I only use drowning rods. I have steel and fiberglass ones.

If you double stake on the shore end, as 330's photo shows, it doesn't matter that much if the beaver pulls the deep end of the rod loose from the bottom. It has no way to get back to shallow water since the rod can't pivot because of the double stakes.

Those ring locks that ADC is using are my favorite also, and they work with any rod type that I have tried, but for chain remember that with those ring locks like KO sells, you need #3 american chain, or you can use the import long link #2 chain. The key is length of the individual links - if they are too short the lock can back up. I have #2 import chains that I have been using a decade now and they are fine, never had one break, but if one ever does break I will consider them all to be getting worn out and replace with #3 american.
