Curious how many turkey poults are being see this summer, especially across the eastern half of country...

I'll start: Our hatching begins here in Southern Georgia in late April and peaks in May, with some very late hatching into early June. I have not seen a single hen that had poults...yet.

I have seen only one hen with just one poult so far this summer. About pigeon sized.

there have been years when I have seen several hens together with 20-30 poults of different sizes.
so way down from previous years

I have not seen any poults. Been seeing lots of single and small groups of hens, with no little ones. I don't think all this rain is helping the little ones.

I see a lot of lone hens lately , now it could be the grass is so high I am missing the little ones

the one little one I saw was a few weeks ago on the farm I was trapping nuisance coon
one little one with the hen was all

it was about the pigeon size.

with 60 egg eaters taken from that farm from about 3 acre right around buildings it is a miracle she hatched out any.

Swamp: Go west young man ! I was going down to the bean field to replant some beans the deer wiped out a week ago and saw 3 hens and more 6 week old chicks than I could count all together. I did find a dead hen out in the middle of a 20 bean field , all that was left was the wings and breast bone all still attached. Don't know if she was killed there or was carried there.

I have been seeing them everywhere here, about pigeon sized already. Grouse chicks everywhere too.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Too many! Darn turkeys are taking over and I believe they negatively impact grouse reproduction. (No, I do not have data to back up my “belief”! :-). I know I’m an outlier. Things are like rats and they charge you as much to shoot a turkey here as a deer. Happy trapping! ScottW

Saw my first hen with poults of the year this week. 2 hens with 9-10 poults. Out my back window of all places. Poults appear to be in the 4-6 week range according to the chart

Been seeing 3 or 4 hens together different places, no poults seen yet this year. Did see a crane with two young last week, most cranes have none, the pair on my land had one now none.

I’ve seen 8 weeks to chick size all last week. Got a hen turkey with chicks and broods of quail that could fly like adults, lol.
What’s even better is I’m seeing birds while driving for work as well.

I have seen 3-4 different broods coming thru our place daily. Just saw a new hen with 2 chicks that can't be more than 10 days old or so. The other hens appeared to grouped up 3 together with their young. Most are about pheasant size now I guess 8-10 weeks old. There are 19 in that bunch. Waiting to see when the numbers start to come up short. Lots of hawks, owls and predators in general around here.

Saw 3 hens together with about 40 little ones last week. Little ones could fly about 10 feet. This was a week ago in far northern WI.

Been seeing a few hens, no little ones yet. Could be the poults have scuba gear on. Fawn production looks good though.

I haven’t seen a poult yet, but our turkey population is declining . How is the population in other states that borders Tn do you see a decline in it ? I know they were checking to see if there was a disease in them , a lot of our southern counties that borders Alabama,Mississippi and Georgia have seen the biggest decline.
