It has been warm here the last week or so. Even the wildlife is looking for some relief from the heat. So some of the local deer have found a cool shady spot to spend their days.

Trying to enjoy the day but flipping the flies off with their ears and tails and scratching some spots when needed with their hooves. Just trying to avoid those nagging flies. Eating some green grass and chewing their cud passing time.

There is a low spot and an old spring under that area that they are bedded on. Probably why the grass stays so green and thick under that old Cherry tree. They are only about 30 ft or so from my kitchen window.

If you put out some corn and water they'd probably never leave!

Most have fawns. They don't seem to bring them out until it gets much later in the evening and I always see them early in the morning. Some have twins and one I know has triplets.

I have 4 lying near the back porch. They decided to eat all the hostas and flowers in the flower boxes.

I haven't seen a fawn yet from the local group, have a doe that hangs out in the back yard most of the day, ate a young mulberry tree and all the poke weed, I thought that stuff was poisonous....?

I see 8-9 fawns after 8:30 in the evening and early mornings. I hope the coyotes don't get too many. We have a couple dens within hearing range.

I thought our does were gettin to be yard ornaments but yours are even worse.

As far as the fawns, does do the same as any good momma cow. They nurse the youngins and stash them in a hide. We only see ours first thing in the morning and late in the evening. On horseback you see quite a few. I had a green colt the summer I rented a pasture from one of Yes Sir's uncles and when a fawn jumped up and spooked the little outlaw it got kinda western. 2nd only to a jackrabbit with terrorists sized ears LOL.

I still have no fawns on camera. Haven't seen any at the local park either. Saturday night drove thru it and saw 13 does and not 1 fawn.

They come at night here and eat my wife's hostas. We see them on our surveillance cameras.

My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

The girls finally brought the kids out to enjoy the open air and out of hiding. Time to mingle a bit.
