Haha…price what you got, lol. The black rack is the only new piece, it was $350. The rest was used off FB or CL. Bars and weights were another $350, there's over 400# of plates. The bench and smaller rack were $50 together. I used the smaller rack alone for two years before i got the bigger rack. I like the red Ronald McDonald shoes,,,,,How much? Think i paid $60 for them. I use them when competing for static lifts like overhead press and squat. And yes, the black mats are stall mats. With a couple scrap pieces of 3/4 plywood.

I was thinking stall mats would be the most affordable option. I would love to get a multi station cable set up with low roll, leg extention and curl, lat pull down, precher curl, and adjustable cable cross over. Maybe if I get the gym set up and the family gets into it I will pick one up.
Not sure who said something about the cost. I picked all my stuff up probably 12 years ago and don't remember what it cost. It's one of those things that last forever and it stings when you buy it but th price is soon forgotten and you get decades of use. Can't put a price on your health another thing I'm coming to terms with and going to have to take the time to make it a priority.

I did a 300 push up a day deal for a while and boy you talking about great for upper body..also burpees At one time I was doing 10 sets of 50 a day. Talk about just using body weight and building strength!! I even won money several times on bets just because folks didn’t think it was possible to do 50 push-ups straight. Doubt I could get 30-35 now, lol. I need to get back into it. Running now hurts with the hip. I can ruck all day, but that jolt of running makes the bone hurt. Doc said it’s normal…got a metal wedge going into a hollow bone. Looks like walking is it for the cardio unless I got a bike.

Personal fitness is the first thing about being prepared. So true, and I probably should have passed on the ice cream before bed. I was proud of my wife taking the initiative. She got a good workout in today and is already sore. I bet she has a lot more trouble walking tomorrow having hit her legs fairly hard for her first workout. In years past it was me getting started that got her into working out. This time it's the opposite looks like there is one of the gyms she joined within walking distance from moms I can hit when I'm working and go with her when I'm here at home. It's more of a gym guard for women and older folks vs hard core lifters. But I'm no longer close to a hard core lifter and it should work for everything I need for a while. It's getting exciting thinking about how much better I will fell if I can get started and stay with it a few months. After that it will be a habit.

So you had your wife do legs, and a hard workout, for her first time back? That’s what I do to make someone quit. Hard for a first work out. Leg press with zero weight 20 reps then two sets of 20 with a big 90 lbs. Leg cruls and extention with 5 lb set of 20 the 20 lbs.sets of 20. Abduction and Inductions again very light and sets of 20. Basically any movement your not used to will make you sore so was very light in weight but still a good work out for her to get started. Also hit some back, shoulders and chest a few light sets to remind her of what to do and 15 min on the treadmill mill to cool down. A basic light work out but hard work out when your out of shape. Your screen name seems to be very accurate. But know it all may be even a better fit. From your first response like k spent to much money on his set up to the poking at many others in their threads got to say you seem to be a very unhappy individual that can use some joy Your life and I hope you find it. Building people up is a much better past time than being jealous and trying to tear them down. Try it some time. I can see now if I start a work out progress thread it will get nuked because there will be the same sad individuals making negative comments. Posting about what's going on will turn into alway bragging about progress. Work, working out, Investing, farm progress, heck I can't believe they haven't come out on post about the kids hunts or trapping success. Maybe Mark June was right.

A pullup bar and a few kettlebells is pretty much all I use and I have a similar set up to K Snow. CAP brand from walmart are the cheapest ive found online with free shipping but others can be found that are a little nicer. Shipping is what kills you on many of them. Depending on what you get, kettlebells are either in pounds of kilograms. Start with a 35 lb (16kg), 50 or 53 lb (24 kg) and if youre already pretty strong, 70 lb (32 kg). These dont seem heavy but the things you do with them will torch you and a full workout can be 20 minutes or less. These wont make you look like a body builder but there are some insanely strong people who only do kettlebell work and most importantly, it can keep you feeling good without injury when done right. There’s a huge learning curve to the different movements because we all grew up doing bench, squats, maybe some power cleans etc but kettlebells havent been popular in the US for much more than a decade or two at the most. There are some very good youtube videos or books to learn from and also some that are horrible. Ive played with these for 12 years, more seriously the past 4 or so. PM me if you would like some advice on people/videos to study.

I appreciate those who workout and post about their workouts and nutrition as well as injuries, systems etc. I've always benefited from increased strength and flexibility. However, now in my 60's it is more important than ever and will have the most controllable impact on my quality of life as I get older. Thanks for helping fuel my motivation!

Prices on used equipment went crazy during covid. Used to be stuff was cheap and sometimes free for the hauling. No more.
Add as you find deals, you can do PLENTY with little. Prices are dropping now, big time. Cast iron can be had for as little as 50 cents to a dollar a pound. Racks are still a little spendy, but better than they were.
