Got a call from my sweet corn farmer friend, he is experiencing deer hammering his sweet corn. BESIDES shooting with a DNR permit....any other methods that have worked to deter deer from crop damage??

A hound that hates deer and coon on a sliding cable the length of the patch.

Electric fence will work with a ground wire a few inches below the hot one. The light barb wire worked best for me back in the day.

Farmers around here have started using the net wrap that is used to wrap round bales of hay. they place it around the field like net wire and just zip tie it to T post. it is working good. I think it is 5 foot high. Not real cheap but a lot cheaper than net wire and easier to put up also.

Best deterrent is the one used before the problem starts.

Easier to get good habits established than it is to break bad ones.

Deer are known to be able to clear a 10 ft fence from a standing jump.

Fencing, at least 7 feet tall. Nothing else will work. Deterrents are useless and snake oil.
