3 girls were killed yesterday when they ran a stop sign in the side by side they were driving and right into the path of an oncoming semi hauling grain. The girls were at fault because they didn’t stop,,, This is why I always stop at the crossroads when the corn is high…even if the other side has the stop sign… I don’t trust people. Such a horrible tragedy.. they were getting ready to start their freshman year. Many prayers for their families, community and the driver who no doubt is feeling absolutely devastated.
Stand by your principles, Stand by your guns, and victory complete and permanent is sure at last. Abraham Lincoln

Allowing these vehicles to use the road was a bad idea. It's an even worse idea when children are operating them...or drunks.
2 girls were killed recently in Wisconsin too. 11 and 6 years old. Smacked by an SUV when they were crossing a road.
Last summer, a drunk crashed and died just down the road from house.
Over half the UTV/ATV deaths in Wisconsin this year have been when they're on the road. Many of those got smacked by vehicles. I don't agree with them not being able to ride on the road.they should be at least 16 years of age to be able to drive one.they should have to follow the same rules as if your driving a car.have insurance too and plates, only drive on secondary roads. I have a much bigger problem with these idiots on bicycles that think they own the road and don't follow the rules of the road.

Sad beyond words. Prayers for the families. And the first responders. What a horrible call to have to show up on some things you can't unsee and when you can't save them how many of those situations can someone Handel in their lifetime?

When I was growing up this guy killed his girlfriend by shooting her in the face with a 12ga. When I went there at noon her blood was still on the concrete. That's a little gruesome

Over half the UTV/ATV deaths in Wisconsin this year have been when they're on the road. Many of those got smacked by vehicles. I was riding 4 wheelers on the road before I was 16 and well before it was legal. It's no different than driving the scooters people with a dui drive when they loose their license. The issue is most likely kids that don't drive or operate the machine often at a friend's or families gets on them and takes off, or just guessing 3 13- to 14 year old girls driving around talking and not paying attention. Lack of experience with anything Is dangerous but it's a knee jerk reaction and poorly thought out to raise an age level like buying a gun, or driving. Raise the age to 20 you will just increase inexperience in that age group and increas death there having inexperienced 20 year Olds. I will go put my 11 and 14 year Olds driving up against 99.9% of 16 and even 17 year olds because they have much more experience operating vehicles from 4 wheelers, side by sides, and yes trucks and cars than the older kids. They have been driving before they were 5 and have been know to drive down the road with me and now and then along getting from field to field. No different than driving the tracker down the road with a loaded hay wagon. People's first response is something need to be done need new laws need past. Sure but how about personal responsibility? Where where the parents of all the kids? Who decided who could drive and run the side by side down the road and that the other kids could ride with their friend? Hmm probably won't be popular to point that out though.

Half the ATV/UTV fatalities in WI this year were by operators over 40 years old. I'm guessing they were experienced and responsible too.

I have a much bigger problem with these idiots on bicycles that think they own the road and don't follow the rules of the road. in WI the law is they need to be 16 with an operators course or 14 with an operators course and an adult with to operate on the road or it is in Green County , I thought that was state wide. the drunk thing is an issue, but we have only had 1 DUI in town in a decade on the UTV un-fortunatly because they are operating under DNR regs and not DOT regs it is a recreational DUI that will take legislation. as a whole the UTV thing has brought a LOT of recreational revenue and when used by those 16+with riders training they are safe or as safe as cars so far. 6 kids on an atv and rolling over on a hillside still happened before we had ATV UTV on road ways tractor rollovers still happen we have seen mostly tractor/mower roll over deaths in our 4-H youth. lost 2 within a few days of each other about 6 years ago , separate incidents.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Very sad situation. Youngsters need to be taught the importance of defensive driving.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Obviously those same people on a motorcycle would have ended up dead. Atvs handle different they can be 80 and not have experience, worse being older makes many over confident especially men I would put money on a good % of your debts to gave booze and drugs as a contribut factor. But sure blame the machine. Do you also blame guns for every shooting. And cars for vehicle fatalities? If so great your at least consist
