got to be at least a few on here. How did you do it without breaking the bank? pond is right at an an acre and 40 foot deepest spot. air compressor is the easy route and most costly. got an algae bloom gone wild now.

It depends on what you are trying to do. Are you trying to add oxygen or just move water? If you are using air to move water you want to use a blower, not a compressor. Compressors put out low volume at high pressure, blowers put out high volume at low pressure, and are much more econmical to run for pond aeration purposes.

Better to put the water into.the air, than the air into.the water...
Before I had aerators, I took 3.5 hp, 2" trash pumps, and necked discharge down to.3/4", 45 degrees to ground.
Shot water WAY across pond, fine droplets falling, better gas exchange.

Was a pain, short run time, etc, BUT would get you thru a tight spot if DO crashes.
FWIW, noticed a lag, lowest DO.woupd be a couple hours after sunrise, cso.ALWAYS fired them up by 0530-0600.
Earlier if having bad issues.

That said, we checked DO every morning, so.had a good idea of what was going on.
Checked during day too, if issues noted.
When you started seeing wild swings, hold on, a crash is coming.

Trying yo add oxygen Think problem came from over feeding.

Putting water into.air is the way.
Partial eater exchange if you can manage it too

Algae blooms can be from over fertilization, like Duck/Goose crap, field runoff etc. Plenty of places sell Pool supplies for that., ie: Algaecide. Maybe check with your county Ag specialist. When the Algae dies and it sinks to the bottom it will deplete the Oxygen levels and cause a fish kill, an Areator can help with that.

Algae also produces oxygen.
Kill all.your algae at once and guess what.
Its no longer producing oxygen.

Treat algae, SAV in sections, not all at once

Be careful with the chemicals I know a guy that did his pond and killed the fish, he had done it many times before but something went wrong.

Look at Aquascape website,,,,You don't have to buy their equipment,,,but you can call them for best advice.....
Maybe substitute cheap china crap....

I have been associated with them since 2005

A cheap floating sprinkler is maybe what you are looking for

Karmex to kill the algae… it will not kill the fish

… as far as areator… I see them in commercial catfish ponds… might try to find a fish farm supply company

Insert profound nonsense here

Well, to be fair, it is only sunny during the day.
That's why I mentioned wide swings.
