The best shooting rifle i ever owned was a Jap Arisaka chambered in .257 Roberts on a nice chunk of walnut and topped with a Redfield 3x9. I might have looked like someone had put a saddle on a sow but a box of 119 grain softpoints was 3 or 4 years of shooting. One cold bore test shot and 3 or 4 deer for the freezer.

Oh, and I should have bought a 10/22 Mag when they were easy to come by too.

Buddy of mine was big into running Coyotes with dogs and the 10/22 Mag was his gun of choice.

you are absolutely not wrong and a point I was getting to

the reason almost all of these guns above are no longer made is intricate small parts, machine time , and cost of production.

what is made today has taken every step to make the least amount of production , machine time and assembly

the 44carbine is full of machined parts that would cost a fortune to make today

we know that it wasn't even a cheap rifle in 1960s it was like 200 then when you could have a marlin 336 in 30-30 for 80 dollars similar length gun and the Marlin was available at every hardware store and sears.
they would both make the same things dead.
so dollars to pounds of meat the Marlin or even Winchester 30-30 won a lot.

It’s been a few years-I was almost able to buy one that Cabela’s had stashed away for $900 but thought about it for a day and it was gone and that was 3 or 4 years ago.

the Browning High power 9mm pistols actually made a resurgence a couple years ago.

as the Springfield SA-35 and then Browning brought it back also

they of course did find issues at Springfield with the extractor after the initial run , seems they may have fixed it with a different extractor.

Parker's were brought back in a reproduction, at least for a time. I believe Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing brought the A.H. Fox back as well. A gun that cost the consumer $35 in 1930 will cost many multiple thousands for a reproduction today. That outstrips inflation by a long ways.

I meant “park” in your safe as in you own them. Not to relinquish them as queens. There’s not a gun I own that doesn’t get shot. My next hunt is for a Winchester 1895 in 30-06.

Winchester sx3. Mine was in bottom land camo. It fit so well, it was like pointing my finger. When it burned I tried to find one in any color, not a one. That's a good gun
