Actually, Wisconsin is a leader in the use of cable restraints and has been working to expand trapping opportunities within the state since their introduction. Given a choice between cable restraints and nothing, cable restraints are another tool in the box that you, as a trapper, may wish to learn to effectively use; especially as they can now be used all season long.

Wisconsin and several other states are never going to allow snares on dry land! And for a multitude of reasons which others have previous explained/commented on in several posts.

I’m not unreasonable, work with what your given but to toss out a post with coyotes on a leash is laughable… tell me how many and how many chewed through cables you’ve walked up on..?

Come on GrummyBear be nice smile
If that is a real possibility then PA needs to know about it and we have to work to change the laws. Maybe CR’s aren’t a good idea. Again….I just don’t know

Will a coyote chew through a cable? I always wondered if a raccoon would chew through a cable. They seem to chew everything

Yeeeppp well mainly 7x7 twist . That's why most have moved to 1x19

This might help you a lil

Yes, as Wolfdog said, 7x7 is fairly easy for a yote to chew through. 1x19 is more difficult but not impossible.
Multiple swivels help some. I would rather have a yote earn it's release than find the neighbor's dog succumb to a snare. JMTC.

Because I am old stubborn and hard headed i was not inclined to get certified to use CR.S in the state of PA .Several of my younger trapper friends had taken the CR certification training course and had been using them for a number of years. And they where always telling me to do the same Well it was an eye opener to me It took a little bit of time to learn locations and proper loop sizes and so on but they more than doubled my catch on fox I did not acquire more properties but just added CR.S to myall ready made sets And as time went On i also began to catch coyotes with them also I do not have many coyoted in my area so every one I picked up using one was a bonus I see it like this no is being made to use them But they are a good method to b add to your tools They are much easier to set and maintain and best of all they really are a great way to catch canines I would encourage all young or old to learn how to use them and enjoy the challenge of using a other trick to you methods. The saying is you can't teach an old dog new tricks But by using new tricks you can teach any dog that new tricks are a good way to catch more ot them
