A major blow to Alaskan hunters was just dealt by The Joe Biden administration. The National Park Service (NPS) has announced a sweeping ban on bear baiting throughout the Last Frontier. The NPS falls under the direction of the Department of the Interior, which in turn answers to Joe Biden. This new policy takes effect immediately, and targets hunters who pursue both brown and black bears.

A National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) Alaska Senior Regional Director, Jim Adams, telling the press, “Stopping bear baiting in preserves is important for visitor safety and ecological health. The rest of this rule is disappointing. The agency has flat out decided not to do its job of protecting parks and park wildlife.”

Hunters throughout Alaska fear that these policies represent a disturbing anti-hunting bias from federal officials and rather than find ways to improve National Parks for all visitors, the NPS is specifically targeting hunters.
