A couple days ago Wonderful Wife told me about an email sale flyer she had just gotten from Cabelas. She said they had Remington 783's on sale for $249. That caught my attention so I took a look. It looked too good to be true but I ordered a .308 just as quickly as I could, knowing that they sometimes use a very limited number of guns available as "bait". Deal went through and I printed off the receipt. They said they had one in stock at the Prairie du Chien store which is about a 60 mile drive for me.

We took a little road trip down there yesterday to pick up the gun, receipt clenched in my hand. The salespeople seemed kind of weird about it but brought out the gun in the box. I did the paperwork and asked if they had any more in stock. He said that was the only one at that price and they were now $449.00.

So in the end I think someone messed up somewhere on the price, but I now have the gun which will be a good place for a Leupold 3X9 I have had laying around here. I know it is not the finest firearm in the land but the action is super smooth and it fills the gap between my 6mm and 7mm Mag, and I really like the feel of it. Great to have a wife that knows enough about this kind of stuff to recognize a good deal!

Yep! Good reports on accuracy with these in most reviews I read. We'll see what happens when I start putting some lead through it. If nothing else it will be good trade fodder.

Haha, sounds like the deal my son found on a FFIII. He sent it to me and I told him to order it immediately and I’d pay him, for some reason I couldn’t right then. He ordered it and got confirmation. Later that evening I was gonna order another just because of the price and they had went up $100, lol. Someone fat fingered the online sale and I’d assume realized it when orders started pouring in and fixed the price.

Got a 308 also...I also got an additional 10% off for ordering online. pretty solid buy.

Just checked and they are now $300.
