Hello. Is there a way to permanently park a vehicle and not have to pay property tax on it? 03 Chevy Silverado bought new, completely rusted out (bad, every body piece, bed, frame, bumpers, Midwest, gravel road). Based on the look of the frame I don't want to sell it to anyone for them to drive. Motor and transmission are good. I am generally never sentimental but have a lot of good memories with the family and trips in the truck. Have thought about just parking it in the fence row but don't want to pay property tax on it. Is there a way to not pay property tax on a decommissioned vehicle? Hard to believe that various vehicles sunk in the ground in fields have property tax paid on them. Probably varies by state so this is in Missouri. Thanks for your time.

Here in Ga, we pay what is called ad valorem tax on vehicles that are registered and tagged. Not registered/no tag/no tax.

Property tax is paid on land and the structures/improvements on that land.

Yes - simply draw a line through the item when you sign it and send it in. Of course dont forget to count your chickens and add them on it....... eek

Just stop declaring it in Jan, and it will go away, but you can't drive it.

Might consider "Antique" plates. 25 yrs old, one time deal, can still drive it around.

No property tax on vehicles here in PA but they nail us ridiculously hard on real estate, thousands annually.

Eh...wot?

What big Bob said. Keep title for when you get tired of looking at it. Scrap will bring $200 plus with title.
