Exactly Chancey. She lied about why there were no SS agents on the same roof the shooter used. And she didn't bother to make up a plausible lie because she didn't have to.

She and folks like her in positions of power know that nothing is going to happen to them. They know they can blatantly lie. They know that no one with even moderate intelligence will believe them. They know there will be zero repercussions for their lies. They don't care. They don't have to. They have nothing to worry about.
