Now, back to the op. I have a large pot of cilantro, but it wants to bolt on me and I never get a nice, thick bunch. Is there a secret to growing good cilantro?

I don't have any cilantro planted this year. Yesterday, I picked close to 16 quarts of basil leaves to dry and use in tomato sauce. They are finishing up in the dehydrator right now.

On Friday, I'm going to the produce auction to pick up green beans, tomatoes and peppers to can.

Tastes like Dawn dish soap to me. That's supposed to be a "thing" from what I hear. They say some individuals (probably evolutionarily advanced ones) taste soap when they eat anything with cilantro in it.

Bolting come when a plant thinks it need to go dormit

All I do is not water much and have small clusters 12 inches apart
I think it was a good year because summer came late and I planted late

When almost any of the herbs start to go to seed, severely cut them back and then water them heavily with cold water. It will rejuvenate them.

Maybe mine had too much water? Seems like it rained every day for two months. Probably, should have pulled it sooner and re-planted. Might do that and hope for a fall crop.

Cut you plants back to around 3 leaf nodes from the ground and they should start producing well again. You want the growth directed towards leaves and length, not seeds. Water them if they are dry.

I will try that. Should have clipped earlier and made more fish tacos.
