Guns made Right.!
Top. .270. 1948 made.
Middle. .264 Win Mag. 1959 made.
Bottom. 30_06 1952 made.

Dusted them off today, took them to the range and shot each 10 times.
Fun shooting a real gun.
Shoulders a bit sore though. smile

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

I'm a big fan of wood. Don't see much at the gun shops anymore. I've been looking at the Browning White Gold Medallion guns, lately. That's a nice collection you have there.

Wood stocks seem to be a thing of the past. My favorite gun is a JC Higgins 12 ga Side By Side. Seems like everything is over under now with double barrels!
We have a few rifles and shotguns that were left to Chuckie from his stepdad. Ithaca shotguns especially were ones he liked.

That old 264 has a home here if it ever needs one!! I’m sure you have 100 people that are ahead of me. Great looking stuff there.

Smash, until people hold and aim a pre64 Win, they can't imagine what a gun should feel like. They just have that (fit) about them.
The only Woodstock rifle made that feels like an old Winny is an older Ruger M77 (in my opinion)

Charles, I don't know that answer?
Arcticotter, appreciate your desire but yeah...

The .270 has a 4x weaver scope. At 100 yards off a bench the bullets touch. crazy
Even the 30 06 with Lyman peepsight will hold a 2" group at 100 yards.

Was fun breaking out the old girls and giving them some exercise.

Thanks Bruce T.
99, yep, there is just " something" about them that has a calming/ nostalgic/ proud feeling knowing you have a legend.

A few dings in the wood add to that nostalgia.

I sure would like to have a closer look at that 270 if it is a T2 Transition gun. I have more than my fair share of pre-64 model 70's. Probably my favorite is a 53 FWT in 308 with a peep sight.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Love those pre '64 Model 70's. You have some dandies. I once had a 1954 in .30-06 but now only have a 1954 in .257. I am a fan of the old stuff including the period correct scopes.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Type 2 or Transition is the term used to describe the rifles made between the "Pre-war/cloverleaf tang" rifles and the more common Type 3 variation made from 48-63. A picture of the safety and the rear receiver tang would tell if yours is a T2 or T3.

Nice rifles, nice calibers. You don't hear much about the 264 mag anymore. That's a shame, it was a nice round.

Wife: That's the 4th time you've gone back for dessert, doesn't that embarrass you? Me: No, I keep telling them it's for you.
