Would ground fish with sodium benzonite and salt mixed in be good for like a year? Trying to make coon and mink bait and grinding it and preserving would work wayyy better for me since I can’t freeze it. I was planning on grinding it same day I catch it and preserve it right after grinding it

If u get it mixed right it should work for u. Personally if I was using SB on fish for coons I'd maybe leave out the salt. Maybe be more edible without the salt and give u more options how u use it.

I like to cast net shed. Grind them whole and fresh. Put it in quart jars and freeze it. Just lay out a fresh jar as needed over night. Stick used some jars in a fridge when I get home. SB never worked to good for me with fish and salt makes a sloppy mess. Those one gallon ice cream buckets are great for the first few days of setting out a line.

Try all 3 trapper E. See what you like.

KYtrapper, coyotes will get caught some but its barely ok for them. Pretty decent cat bait. Coons are all over it.

I picked up probably 50 lbs of shad from a buddy. Have in freezer studying on how to best use it. Grinding and just using is simple enough. I thought just a tad of smoke oil might change it.

I use salt in a few of my baits for raccoons. They eat that bait as fast as they eat the non-salt baits I make. In fact, I make 2 deer mineral/dry attractant products that both contain high salt, and the raccoons eat them faster than the deer do. I also have a catfish bait that has high salt content, and if the raccoons can get to it, it will be gone fast.
