Question - I'm in MN and start baiting shortly before hunting . Why bait so early , would take a lot of time and money . Not against it just wondering why

In Wisconsin we can start baiting April 15. Some start that early, some don't. I started late April and have bears coming to my bait now pretty much every day, most days multiple bears throughout the day. In my neck of the woods, we're also competing against guys using dogs, and they can train with dogs in July and August.

Up here, we only get a tag every 11-13 years, so I don't mind spending a bit extra on bait and gas if it helps me nag a bear come September.

Yeah probably don’t need to start as early but seems like there is more bears that find bait by the time season starts and I enjoy doing it and being out there

I had a black bear in my yard years ago doing that to a barrel of corn.

Bears here are trampling my wild blueberry patches and ignoring my neighbor's bait site.

Haha, sounds like deer when the acorns are falling. They’ll walk through a pile of peanuts and corn to eat acorns.
