My res mare was hot to trot and the
percheron x stud was out commission so my sleep has been enhanced by Jack the the daddy to donkey .Jack was free to use so it looks like I will be a first time mule owner in about 11 months .Whow can he ever put some air through his horn .I have owned near 100 horses in my 74 years but never a mule .Maybe in 3 years I might plow a couple of 50 ft furrows or pack some elk meat .One close neighbor is sure hoping the mare is settled and Jack will be heading back to his real home 3 miles away so he can sleep without Jack's braying at night .Sweet dreams

Lol!
I never owned a mule and just about bought years back. I wish I had now I'm not in the animal business anymore for year around care. I really like to be around them and would be a fun project to own/train one.

I hope to see a picture of that little next year.

We had mules when I was young.
Dad wanted a paint mule so we had paint horses and a mammoth jack. He could be heard for a long way braying
Never got the paint mule.

We had all sizes, mostly small ones to coon hunt off of but we did have a Tennessee mule that we rode on trail rides

Weirdly, you can use a braying donkey to keep religious Muslims away. I read about it earlier this year. They are supposed to wrap themselves in a prayer shawl, hide and pray. They think Jinn are around waiting to catch them. They actually still believe this crap.

"Seek Allah’s protection against Shaytan when hearing a donkey bray

When hearing a donkey bray are we asked to seek Allah’s protection from Shaytan?

Answer

Yes. Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith. Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘When you hear the braying of a donkey, then seek ‘Allah’s refuge from Shaytan for it has seen a Shaytan.’

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3303, Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2729)

Also see here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.

There are a multitude of steps they are supposed to take to protect themselves from everyday sights and sounds, including lots of types of black animals, barking dogs and even geckos.

A neighboring farm about a mile away (as the crow flies) had a donkey that brayed regularly. They are loud, glad it wasn't closer.

Eh...wot?
