I wear whatever camo I have, try to make some sort of makeshift blind to break up my outline and sit STILL. Then again, I only target the dumb animals. They taste just as good as smart ones.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Deer see movement not color. So buy a pink shirt and a blue jeans and go choot 'em.

I use blue jeans almost all the time bow hunting, turkey hunting. I do have a cheap camo pants and they are nice because they have so many pockets and that is the only reason I use them ever so often.

Wool pants/grey and one camo jacket are what I use when is gets cold. The jacket is ancient, and I believe it is called prairie ghost.

ASAT or Predator.

As for sweatpants versus high dollar stuff…..

Big difference hiking 200 yards to a deer stand for a three hour sit and hiking 20 miles into the mountains for 5-10 days.

Where does one even buy good wool pants nowadays?

You need to go 20 miles just to find a deer?

Northern MN is riddled with good wool. I have 17 lifetime supplies worth in the garage. Every good garage sale has some and I tend to stockpile it. Buying new wool is CRAZY expensive!

I recently bought extreme cold weather gear. It happens to come with a 'new age' camo, and im fine with that....as long as Im warm. One season under my belt and it is hands down the warmest gear ive owned. No regrets. Dont care how cheap your carharts are...:)

I don’t buy the expensive camo jackets and pants. I’ll buy the Canadian Tire special that’s on sale and I’ve been using the same camo jacket for about 6 years now. I like it because it has an inner liner that works good for spring and fall hunting, and then the thicker/warmer part for November.

My pants are the cheap Redhead brand from Cabela’s.

What I did spend good money on was my winter boots, Spring/Fall hunting boots and the base clothing that I wear when it gets cold.

I like to wear camo when hunting. Don’t care what brand, but I like to dress the part.

There’s a big difference between Boones country and the Midwest. You don’t have to go 20 miles to find deer; but you may have to go 20 miles to find the quality deer you’re after. You have to put on the miles to spot and stalk out west. It’s a whole lot different than walking up the stairs or ladder to a permanent stand in the woods back east.

Yep, wool is out of this world crazy expensive! I have a couple pair 35 to 40 years old and wear them all most every day in the wintah. A couple years back I bought a new pair, and that pair should make me to the end of my life. I forget to mention wool loose sweaters I use also and are great hunting gear as well.

I got one set of warm water proof clothes that if bought today would be pricey. But they’re 10 plus years old.
Bucks like to see you wear that outfit in December. Let’s us know how proud you are of how cheap it cost.

Oh yes. Don’t ever try to be the spelling police again. You have become the joe Biden of grammar. Lol

[quote=GUNNLEG]I don’t think it much matters for deer, but I’m a big ASAT or predator guy. The boldness of the black really helps to break up a silhouette.

100% Leafywear suit for turkey.

For waterfowl, as long as my hands and face are covered, I don’t think it much matters as I’m always behind something (a blind) or in the shadows.

Get into crow hunting and get back to me on good camo. [/quote

Crows are the real deal when it comes to spottin a guy.

Usually a green flannel for me. I do invest in good waders and good waterproof gear though, but I stick to solid colors when availability allows. For turkeys it all depends on the weather. I love the concealment that a leafy suit provides, but it gets too hot to wear one pretty dang quick in the season

I never gave camo much thought, I've been wearing the same stuff I bought a Cabela's many years ago.

The last couple of years the highly pressured spring gobblers I hunt have been busting me regularly and easily. I've been thinking about a ghillie suit.

Eh...wot?

That is interesting!!
I don't think I ever harvested a turkey other than jeans and whatever for a shirt/coat. I have hunted them for a half century and a lot of years have taken two birds.

I personally don't think camo makes a hill of beans. Just my 2¢.... Except I like one feature and gear wear has sooo many pockets which I find handy!

A lot of folks have dumb, easy-to-hunt turkeys Snowy. I sort of wish we did.

Everybody that tells me that turkeys are easy to kill hunts them where they are not pressured hard.

Here in PA we have a LOT of hunters and turkeys get hunted very hard. It makes them wary and hard to kill.

Yeah, there are dumb Jakes available. You could probably put some pebbles in a soda can and call one of them into range while wearing blaze orange. LOL But what fun would that be?

If they live to be two-year-olds they are pretty savvy and difficult to call into range. If they live to be three-year-olds they are pretty much unkillable, at least in the areas I hunt.

Eh...wot?

That is probably true. Thanks. Birds do get hunted hard here and prey make them spooky as heck here. To many things want to kill them and they know it.
