Met mike and his wife Georganna long ago in the 90's at our annual state trapping convention when it was held in Camden, Al. every year. He was living in florida at the time working on helicopter's but was planning on retiring and moving to Alabama which he later did. He became our NAFA shipping agent for several years and his wife Georganna became our state association president after i termed out. She passed from Cancer in 2009 but was able to attender her first NTA convention before doing so. Knowing what all she went through to make it to that convention made sitting at the table with her and Mike a cherished memory of mine.
Mike is still the only person I know who VOLUNTEERED to go to Viet Nam to get out North Dakota where he was stationed at the time, lol. He went from 40 below to a balmy 95 when landed half way around the world. The military is who taught him how to work on helicopters. In his living room is a HUGE moose head and i won't go into his colorful explanation of what all he went through to get it but lets just say from time he pulled the trigger till he got it back on base was 24 hours and he swore he'd NEVER kill another one of those blankety blank things again and he never did, lol. He was stationed in Alaska then.
Mike was always the first to arrive to whatever event we were having and last to leave when all the clean up was done, never asked for a thank you, just liked to help out his fellow trappers where he could and preffered to stand in the shadows rather the lime light. He claimed i did enough of that for both of us, lol. I could go on and on but i can hear him now telling me to wrap this BS up, his favorite word, lol.
Rest easy ol buddy, you will be missed.
