Re-bar I opened up the claw on the hammer I drive them with to grab the nut

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I use 18" rebar cross-staked. They all have a big nut welded on the end.

I have one of these groundhog three-in-one tools for making sets; digging beds, digging dirtholes and pounding stakes in. I ground a U in the claw end to fit around 5/8" rebar and use it like a claw hammer to pull stakes.

If the stakes get hung up because I pounded them through rocks I use my Freedom Brand Stake Puller from F & T.

I use a steel pry bar used for tamping down gravel and putting in fence post. It's about 6" I take a few raps of trap chain around the bottom 1/3 way up the bar hold the trap and lift up on the end of the bar with the other flat end o. The ground. Pulls them all up with not to much effort.

I'm cheap the bar was in the barn and I didn't have to buy anything. A t post would work also and be lighter but not as comfortable in use as the round bar.

Lots of melt and freeze here in wet years stakes can lock in solid. This is a piece of channel with a slot that goes under the washer, I tap it under the washer with a hammer. A short piece of chain goes on the bolt and the loop takes the handyman hook to jack it out. This is for extreme freeze downs.
