I volunteered to take on this project to reconstruct this one ton coal car for the Snow Shoe, Pa David’s House Heritage Center. It came out of a local mine, and was rebuilt forty years ago for display. Time took its toll on it, it fell apart to its metal framework. I hauled it home a month ago, got some salt cured oak 3” planks and 1” larch boards to rebuild it. It took 24 pounds of nuts, bolts, and washers. Ready to haul back and get it reset.

Before and after…

Very nice. I'm constantly amazed at the non-trapping talents so many of you have.

are you going to oil it

a couple gallons of oil every year , it would be interesting to see it get past 40 more years

Now and then along comes and incredible talent married to a willingness to put it to good use. I've seen 2 or 3 restorations considered impossible. Have to see them to believe it. This is one of those.

You do good work!

I seem to be the neighborhood trailer rebuild guy no matter where I live but we do not have anything like that around here!
