Flounder is ok, maybe not those big ones, lol
but I prefer some lesser known fish without a reputation...Sea Robins are by far tastier, with white flaky flesh, but the all time winner is Atlantic Triggerfish, harder to clean with a weird shape fillet but the best eating fish I've ever had, an I've had all the local varieties.

I'll take ling cod over flounder any day. Jo Mi, that is a huge flounder. Very nice catch.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Trigger is fine eating as well. I like to steam it with slices of lemon.

Must have caught on as remember it being tossed back back in the day then catching on as limits were put on snapper and now trigger has limits like snapper.

We gigged a bunch of flounder near Biloxi back in the late 60s, early 70s. We’d wade the shallow water at night…carried a Coleman gas lantern. On a good night, we’d gig fifty.

A few weeks ago we did well on slot reds, stripers, and a few nice specks at Janes Island/Crisfied, mostly on peelers/soft crabs in 4'-6'... plenty of big rays around too... VERY nice flattie.....

Wanna Be - the trout minimum size is 14” with a creel of 4

I use mahi so it doesn’t confuse em with the “flipper” dolphin. Call em what you want , they’re a blast on light tackle . We cast jigheads and plastics for them, sometimes topwater. Get them going on chum too, they’ll come right to the surface eating.

Vinke yeah we ice and bleed most our fish. Have learned the pictures turn out better if you take them before you cut them. All the tuna get bled as soon as they hit the deck.

Lady Davep and Hobbie I remember Shantytown, and the fishing pier. Worked at the oc fishing center back in 2003-2005 as a dockhand during high school. Saw it get transformed to what it is now. Used to get ice cream there and ride the “swings” , grandad kept his boat there on F dock .

You guys are right triggers and ling are also great to eat. Have caught those too this year. The ling ( red hake ) are really prevalent in one area we fish, and are excellent table fare.

Big Black Sea bass still hard to beat , fried of course

Thanks

John
