I planted some clover and alfalfa seed for a deer food plot 7 days ago and it germinated today. I could not find any 6-24-24 fertilizer at the time i planted but i found it today. My question is should i give it a month or so to grow before i fertilize it or can it be fertilized any time now.

Did you do a soil test to know 6-24-24 is the right mix for that area and that crop? If not, you might do more harm than good with the wrong fertilizer mix.

Might need lime more than fertilizer impossible to tell without soil test

Fertilizer might burn and kill plants that young, might wanna wait a bit and maybe do 2 or 3 light coats, so to speak.

This ^ is good advice. If it were me I would wait a month or so let it get rooted in and plan a light dose just before a predicted rain. If you have irrigated land, I put it on and irrigate right after.

Don't fertilize when the plants are that small. As stated above the N will burn the young plants. Did you put an incoculant with your legume seed? If so the plants will formulate their own N but that comes after the roots develop a lot more than just germination stage. If you want to put on your fertilizer I would wait until late August or even a couple weeks later to help strengthen the plants for winter. If you did not put inoculate on the seed then the plants will need N and putting that on say a week or so earlier than late August would be better but not until it is 3-4 inches tall. Legumes use a lot of K (pottasium) but you can deal with that next season and not much N growing well. Clover can take lower pH then alfalfa but both like more neutral to basic soil if possible. Alfalfa does best over 6.5 up to over 7. If low on cacium adding lime as early as you can without hurting the young crop. Before plantng would have been better.
