This young man doesn't really know what he is yappin' about so be kind and educate him. Draw weight can be adjusted somewhat using the limb bolts, don't back them out too far as it can get real exciting. Ultimately draw weight depends on limb design weight. Draw length is set by the cam design.

Again, another post for attention. You’re not 5’ 3” pulling at 28” and I seriously doubt you’re pulling 60#.

I agree. He has some nice long arms if he's pulling back a 28" draw length and he's 5' 3". It should be about 24"-25" for his height.

Dont worry about what everyone else is shooting. Can you hold a good group at 20 and 30 yards? Are all your arrows in the target straight? Or are some off like you were standing at a different spot? If so you need to paper tune the bow.
He may haveit se tat 28 inch draw, depwnding on where he is pulling it back to?? Most bear bows have the draw length on the adjustment module on the cams. My son is 12 and I just adjusted his to 26 but only pulling around 40 lbs or less.

If you are 5'3" you either have orangutan arms, hitting full draw behind your ear or not even breaking the cams over

That bow is set to as high of a weight as you can get it from the pic you posted. If it says 70# on the sticker and you are getting 60# then something is not right.

Do yourself a favor and go to a bow shop. Pay them to fit the bow to you (if it can be adjusted to that) and to have it tuned so that it shoots right.

Yep especially dont try to max yourself out on a bow for a few reasons.

One practice. You can't shoot a lot of you wear yourself out or worse hurt yourself trying to shoot a heavy draw. If you can't practice a lot you won't develop accuracy but you'll develop bad habits.

Secondly for hunting you definitely don't want a hard to pull bow. You'll make all kinds of movement if you're struggling to reach full draw. Even more so if you're in an awkward situation.

Get tina bow shop and have them set you up did that when I bought my bow last year. Purposely had them reduce the draw as for me drawing 60 was doable but I wanted to not have to fight my bow killed deer two days later on first hunt out.

I agree with BTL and others at 5’3 with a 28 inch draw you should have scabs on your knuckles. I’m 6’ even and have a 28.5 draw.

I'm 5'1 with like a 25.5"-26" draw and I actually shot like a 28" no peep for the longest just messing around. It's doable but man a well fitting bow is sooo much better . Especially when you shooting over #50

Your draw length and arrow length is not the same thing. Your arrows should be about 1" longer than your actual draw length measures from your proper anchor to where your arrow contacts the reset. No shorter for safety and no longer for unnecessary weight.

Wolfdog,
In your pic above....your bow's draw length is too long...and the arrow is obviously too long. You bow will be much more comfortable and accurate if you can adjust the draw properly (you are having to pull too far back...unnecessarily) And your arrows will be lighter and fly better/faster with that unnecessary weight cut off (as long as you have the proper spine arrow)
