Guessing most of us have.
I've had this stump right on the edge of my drive coming to my cabin. I cut the tree down bout 14 years ago but never got rid of the stump.
Ugly as it was, I left it. Over the years, it had become a place my dogs (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) on every morning, a place I leaned my hoes/ rakes/ shovels against, put bird seed on and and even a few flower pots. have had a Walmart cheap solar light stuck in it for years. Have 4 great dogs buried close by.

Knowing some day, it would have to go.
Inspection this eve shown it was getting very rotten and was infested with ants.
Never thought I'd be sad to burn a tree stump but I'm typing this while drinking a beer and watching an old (buddy) dissappear.

I have a house full if sentimental stuff from my grate grandparents and grand parents. Mostly it takes up a lot of space with what's in storage and I honestly should get rid of it but can't seem to.

Never had a sentimental stump, but it must be I. The air because I burn one out 3 weeks back. I birthed top out of it it was dieing off and over my dau beed room. I left the log when it was low enough to not be a hazard to the house to keep a rope swing and a spot to hang deer. It rotted enough I took it down and used what was left of the log to help file finishing the stupid off.

Sentimentality is an emotional expression of eventful memories within oneself, whether good or bad times that may remind us of our growth in thoughtfulness, or thoughtlessness in life.

Now where will the dogs pee?

Many places along the trapline always bring a memory of what or who I was thinking about when I cut that section. Decades later the same memory comes up at certain places . Most of us probably have places like that

You could pee on the stump while drinking your beer , inhale real deep ,and might get some spiritual satisfaction.

Ya'll ever wonder what's gonna happen to all of your mounted deer heads/skull mounts/racks/other taxidermy?

I have several shoulder mounts/several dozen skull mounts & dozens of deer racks/a black bear/wood duck/etc.

I really enjoy looking at them on the wall. It brings back the hunt in full color with all the memories for me.

BUT....these things don't generate those feelings for anyone else....not even our children. They are not gonna hang them up in their homes when you die. Don't even kid yourself...it won't happen.

Maybe some of mine will end up in a BassPro shop or something where someone can see them.

No one else will care...trust me.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. My grandfather never had any taxidermy done, but if he had, I would be thrilled to have a piece of it to hang on my wall.

I guess I'm speaking about my situation....mostly.

But, I can't imagine one of my sons dedicating a large wall in their home to 10 shoulder mounts, 25+ buck skulls, a large box full of sawed off deer racks, a half black bear, a drake woodie, a large tanned bear hide, and four large cases of turkey spurs and beards.

One of Dad's bucks...maybe....but where will the others go?

All those sawed off racks that you and I have "collected" over the years would make a nice chandelier or three.

I agree. Don't know why we save em. Don't mean much to anyone except the person that killed the buck. And to that person....the rack is mostly like an idol.

I gave away a large box of spikes, 3pts, 4pts, 6pts, etc to a friend of mine that makes ornaments from them, but I've kept all the "better racked" sets over the years.

Should've gave him all of them.
