Good morning and Happy August 1st everyone. This is the month hunting starts back up for us.

I recently won a Tikka 6.5 creedmoor t3x lite. Still havent shot it but i did get a spare 5 shot clip for it. Next up I ordered my son a left handed T3x lite in 243. I see tikka magazines come in M and M+ for this size bullets.

Everything Ive seen says the 6.5 mags (M+) will fit the 243 (M). Any tikka owners have any experience with this? I just want to be double sure before ordering because if the 6.5 mags work then I dont need to order anymore for the 243

Ryan, my Tikka is in 6.5 Swede and shoots exceptionally well. One thought about the magazines is they are plastic. Being we are both from Northern climates we both know what happens to plastic in the cold. I don't think having a "spare, spare" magazine is a terrible idea.

I have nothing clever to put here.

This. I’ve got both short and long action Tikkas and multiple clips for each caliber. I wasn’t impressed with the “ plastic” clips but whatever they are they are tough. From northern MN across to the western border states I’ve had zero issues in brutally cold conditions.

Rob where are you finding Swede ammo at a good price? My pretty 1917 Gustav Stads is hungry.

Ive been shooting my 223 tikka for a few years now and I really like it. Once i replaced the scope and mounted one myself with proper torque etc and lowered the trigger pull its much better than i first thought. I keep a couple spare clips. It seems the M+ magazine will work for the 243 buts its just slightly longer to accomodate the longer bullet of the 6.5.
Bobby has been trying every angle to get one of my tikka rifles from me but now he'll be getting his own. I see theres some billet magazines available.

Not an expert but I believe m+ will sit the case head back a little to far for ur 243 to pickup reliable. The tikkas come in one action for both short action and long action and the 6.5 prc and possibly 6.5 cm are kind of a mid legnth action. They use the bolt stop to set how far back the bolt comes back. They can be replaced or ground on to adjust bolt travel. Some of the new tikka 243s are coming with 1:8 twist barrels which allow for longer bullets but to optimize these longer bullets in the 243 some guys are using the 6.5 prc mags and modifying the bolt stop to seat these bullets out longer.
Food for thought

I know a handsome and brilliant guy that ran across some for roughly $20 box shipped with a 140 grain Nosler Partition about 2 years ago. Being he shoots a couple of Swede's he stocked up.

I've looked at getting a Tikka 243 with a 1;8 twist and if I did I'd run the 6.5 prc mag and modify the bolt stop to seat the higher BC bullets longer so they weren't taking up powder space. I think Brownells sells replacement bolt stops if u didn't want to modify the existing one.

You probably could run ur CM on the 243 mags if your using factory ammo or loading to Sammi COAL. I thought it was just the 6.5 prc they were running as a mid length action and mag but it might be the CM now too....
If the CM and 243 are two different mags they probably are now.

Well that figures, you run with the “in” crowd.

Yep! I am a fine Gent and a scholar and my knowledge is only exceeded by my exceptionally good looks. smile I believe I posted a link on here when I found it. It is Norma brand. I bought 2 cases and after it arrived and I saw it had a Nosler Partition, I tried to order two more cases but of course it was all gone.

I’ve used the factory M+ mags in my 308 with factory ammo for years. My dad has also used them in his 243. Neither of us have had any issues.
