The hole is molded right into the buttstock and it cracked out. I was thinking to grind it off flat and install a screw in swivel stud. Only problem is that the buttstock seems like it’s probably hollow and I don’t know if the threads on the stud will hold. Maybe epoxy the stud??

What he said

that is a Rem arms stock , with the molded in sling mount.

basically what they said , only thing I would do different is remove the but pad , because it is probably hollow put a block of wood or something in there for the epoxy to hold and for the sling stud to get a good bite in

or fill the area inside flat with the epoxy and drill through and use a washer and nut type sling swivel stud.

the stock plastic on some of those is very thin

Being thin is what I worry about. I haven’t took off the butt plate yet but when I knocked on the stock, it seemed like there probably are ribs molded into it too. I’ll post how it all works out once I’m done.

You can always just replace the whole buttstock with one of the older Remington Special Purpose stocks and never have to worry about it again. Otherwise, JB Weld and expanding foam. smile

Yes, that’s my plan. I’m going to pick one up the next time I’m in town. I took the butt plate off and it is very thin. Likely will need to epoxy it in.

Spray the inside of the stock with "Great Stuff" expanding foam. It will add a couple of ounces but deaden that hollow sound.

Finally got around to getting this done. $5 for an Uncle Mike’s swivel pack and I’m back on the road. No epoxy needed. It’s solid. [Linked Image]

when it starts to unscrew on you , that is what the epoxy is for , but you can get that any time.
