Looks nice. Are you northern or southern zone fisher?

Is it like a drawing for tags? Or when they’re gone they’re gone?

It's a lottery, not like closing time at the bar.

I have nothing clever to put here.

But with preference points, not random.

Used to be lots of fisher up north, but much fewer last 15 years or so. Bear baits are good draws.

I’m southern zone now, which has been easier to draw. Friends down the road say they’ve got a family of them near their house, think the fishers got their cat. Maybe I can be neighborhood hero this year.

20 years ago you could hardly make a fox or coon set without catching one. They were everywhere. It seems they have shifted South now and we don't have a lot of them but started getting a few Marten around 10 years ago.

We can buy one fisher tag but their management units are somewhat limited. I can trap them on one side of the highway but not the other. There is talk of reintroduction efforts for marten here too. Which is exciting. They’re beautiful little creatures.
However, you have to focus on using footholds here in PA.

Marten are a hoot to trap and easy to overharvest. The first time I went North to trap them I had never even seen one before. First mistake was I used 1.5 LS. Second mistake was I put in 30 sets. I was done the next day. If I ever targeted them specifically with footholds I would use #0's.
