I have the book, just can’t find it, by Frank Grabel I think. It’s the old green fisher book from the late sixties. In it, there’s a fisher lure utilizing rotted down smelt I think. In my case I have shad. Anyone ever make or use this old formula? Don’t have fisher but it is a call type lure.

Rotted down smelt or most any type fish is pretty much a universal attractor and works well to varying degrees for most critters. Before freeze up I use fish juice a lot in Thorpe style soda can call stations. Salted (fresh) and smoked fish also make a good cheap bait for most critters.
