A little late to be worried about it if planting for this year, but Mountain Fresh is doing well and makes a really good BLT. Good size, color and most important......flavor.

Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

depends what week it is

WI55 will get you eating sandwiches early but it is hard to beat the flavor of a bunch of the late season giant slicers
beef stakes , Brandywines

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

As HAyDay stated, Mt. fresh are hard to beat. For a production tomato they taste great, more disease resistant than a heirloom, the fruit will last longer setting on the table. I have 8 tomato plants. 6 Mt. Fresh, 1 beefy boy, and 1 german Johnson. That German Johnson is pretty good.

Brandywine, the original and not one of the many sub-strains and mis-named varieties that occurred since the Seed Savers Exchange folks got their hands on some seeds back in the late 80's.

The original came from Ohio over a hundred years ago and the heirloom variety is still grown by Amish in Chester County PA along the Brandywine Creek they are named for.

Chester County is the next county over from me and my kids went to Brandywine School District so that alone would make them a favorite for me. LOL

But they also have the great benefit of being one of the best tasting tomato varieties and are plenty big for sandwich slicing.

Like any heirloom, they can be more difficult to grow successfully than hybrid varieties but, in my opinion, worth the extra effort.

Eh...wot?
