Well look at some of the places that track consumer debt! Most Americans are running their house hold finances very similar to the government method.

Hey its not thier money, so they don't mind wasting it.
Meanwhile many politicians get filthy rich by having inside knowledge of when to invest.

The trillions in debt is miniscule compared to the value of the countries natural resources and assets as collateral.
The gubmint is most definitely rich.
