Strange personality house trained leash trained but that’s it so far she’s better with the wife follows her everywhere she goes in the house. Fine one minute then spooky the next minute for no reason. Plays with the toys she about cleans out the toy box some days. Call her and she just stands there like she’s deaf but then jumps at the slightest noise she hears.
Walks good on the leash then fights to go in and out of the door at times no real pattern to her behaviors, I know she’s new and will need time but she lacks any basic or consistent pattern to work with.

Looks like I’ll need to be the bad guy and start her on a check cord to get her to just come on command she either just stands there then takes off when you get closer to her. My beagle looks like a gifted dog compared to this one so far. LOL

The dog lacks a personality never seen that in a dog it has a glimmer now and then but so far I’m not impressed overall. If I wanted something that will not come when I called it I would have have gotten a cat.

It’s bonding with the wife well so far its like her shadow, if the wife’s in a room the dog is either in the same room or not far away watching her every move. We both were outside working today and the new dog barked and howled often we don’t leave her alone to long for fear of her tearing the place up from anxiety attacks.
Time will tell I might look into getting a dog for me maybe that will do the dippy dog some good .

Lots of people will see a dog do something its not supposed to. Call it to them and punish it. Dog associates being called with punishment. Hard one to break them of. Always best to start with a puppy.

It’s 10 months old I don’t see fear it’s just like a blank slate. Right now she’s just getting playful. The wife got her from a breeder not the way I would have went. I’d take a mutt any day my best dogs were mutts the worst ones were breed dogs.
No cowering no ducking and no problem exposing her belly so I don’t see abuse like you see in some abused animals the way she acts, just no training in some ways.

We taught our pup the "touch" command. She was the same way as yours. You call her until you were blue in the face and hardly get a reaction. After teaching her touch, she come running every time no matter what she was doing.
Basically what it is, is another form of "come", but relies heavy on rewards.

We started her off by having her sit in front of us. We'd have a piece of dog food in our hand. We'd say "touch" and show her the "treat". The only way she got it was if she touched her nose to our hand. Then she'd get it.
After that we moved to having her in a different room and saying "touch". She'd come running out and instantly touch our hand. Then she got her treat.

She escaped from the wife one day. I walked out on the back porch and yelled touch as she was heading for Canada. She stopped dead and turned and ran back.

The key to it was consistency. You had to give the reward every time. If you tried to play games and tease her by not giving her one it wouldn't work the next time. So you'd kinda have to restart a bit to get her to trust you again.

Some dog breeds also pick out a person and that is their person no matter what. The wife was very much "her person". If the wife was in the room she was usually on the chair with her. If the wife left, she'd lay by the back door and wait for her. The only time she wanted anything to do with me was at night. She'd come up and lay with me. But every little sound that came from back the hall, she was on full alert wating for the wife.

 Wife = her person.
Son = person who'd play rough with her.
Me = person who got up and took her out throughout the night.

Same here she’s bonded to the wife but won’t trust me I’ve never had that from a dog in the past ever. I’ve spent more time with the dog but am not making much progress if I raise my voice it gets worse quickly. Trying a harness today she can slip her collar by backing up she figured that out, the dog has a pencil neck must be the poodle part.

It sounds like the new dog has a case of estrogen poisoning. LOL you'll never figure one of those things out.
