Walks good on the leash then fights to go in and out of the door at times no real pattern to her behaviors, I know she’s new and will need time but she lacks any basic or consistent pattern to work with.

Looks like I’ll need to be the bad guy and start her on a check cord to get her to just come on command she either just stands there then takes off when you get closer to her. My beagle looks like a gifted dog compared to this one so far. LOL

Just saying but, maybe this is the problem wink

Put a harness on her today we had one that was to big for the last dog it fits her well she’s still shadowing the wife that’s a good thing, if she acted the same with the wife she’d be uncontrollable then.

I’m starting to lean towards a male abuser in her past to some point it might be a combo of poor training and an over sensitive personality. Even though shes spooky she never makes a sound when spooked it’s kind of strange.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

I train my Beagles to COME, & DOWN every time, and they come to my referee whistle every time. That sound carry's a LONG way across a field and can't be confused with somebody else yelling for their dog. At night I run them in the yard or even just out to P, with a bicycle flashing red light on the collar, and a copper fishing bell in the field. I can keep track of them without looking. When they, (Daisey) get's out of the yard, I can always locate them that way, and I NEVER DISCIPLINE A DOG THAT COMES WHEN CALLED, no matter how whizzed I am. No better way to break a dog from coming to you when called.
There's a period of adjustment for both of you, to understand just what is wanted and how to do it. Belly rubs go a long way to build trust.
Notice I said nothing about treats.
