Sorry to hear that Roy

Maybe some day I’ll make it back to the UP
I’d like to catch a few Brook Trout while I’m there too

We’re only a little over a week away now

The weather forecast looks good, I hope it stays that way.

We ordered 16 NY Steak loins (approximately 275 steaks) for the Saturday night banquet
They get cut up by some of the crew while I’m running the Round Table on Friday evening

I’m throwing a few rocks in the pickup to be used in the demo area, and will find some good cedar limbs and branches and toss them in when I come across a few. ‘Cat demos require a lot of that type of stuff, and the Nevada boys use it by the armload !

For the first time in years I don’t have to bring a coyote home in 90+ degree days for a skinning demo

Carcass ‘cats are being brought for us to use.

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it yet, but if anyone coming that has a fur garment or accessory, and would like to wear it in fur show at the banquet, feel free to bring it/them. The more the merrier!

One thing I’ll touch on again is that there is unlimited tent and camper parking on the grounds, and there IS showers and bathrooms too.

The campgrounds in area are all close by too.

All the stars are aligning to make Coyote Days 2024 one for the books

Remember, there is a lot to see coming and going to Wyoming

Nebraska isn’t all cornfields, and Montana isn’t all mountains

Lots of history and things to experience !

Have a good evening

John

Yes, it certainly is, Steve.

I don’t think most people fully grasp how amazing a place it really is, until they go there and see it first hand.. It’s not the typical small town museum by any means. Truly world class

Set up for Coyote Days is a week away …

A couple of updates-

Groenwald Fur is sending us one of their new Coyote fur trimmed parkas, which will be pretty exciting to see! It’ll be on display and on the fur fashion show on Saturday night.

And, Callie Mueller, Miss Rodeo South Dakota 2024 is going to be attending this year, and will be wearing fur in the fashion show, and also selling tickets for a couple of guns she is raffling off.

Herrick Taxiderny from Douglas, WY., will be attending on Saturday, and will have some of their Jackalope , Porcupine, Fox, etc. mounts on display, and they are looking to make connections for people to supply them with carcass red fox and other items for their business.

Phil Brown is traveling all the way from Pennsylvania to attend, and Phil is always fun and entertaining, and easy to visit with. I guess the other guy from back there, I think his name starts with a Z, can’t make it this year, maybe next ?

Bill Ilchik is making the trek too, and if anyone hasn’t take the time to visit with him about ‘cat trapping or geology or just about anything outdoor related, take the time to do it this year.

And, also from Nevada, Tracy Truman is coming for the first time. You know him by ‘Lazarus’ on T-man. It’ll be great to see him again too, and he’s giving a demo as well.

Things are coming together, and the anticipation and enthusiasm shows, we’re getting a lot of calls, emails and texts!

20 demos in 2 days, and a roundtable discussion

On August 16 -17, all tracks lead to Lusk WY

Have a great afternoon,

John

Mark Zagger... BTW it was cool seeing you at the NTA convention. I'd love to make it out to Wyoming

Mitch- Yeah, I was just trying to give Zagger a hard time
And, Iowa isn’t that far from Wyoming, jump in the vehicle and come over for a day or two

The new portable sound system is here, and we’ll put it to good use.

The weather forecast looks great! 80’s for a high, so it will be cooler at night too.

NO open fires on the grounds, and we have a county wide fire ban going on.

This is probably my last post, I have some coyote stuff going on and will be busy up until Thursday afternoon when we start setting up

I will leave you with this …. I can honestly say that there is NO where that you will be given the opportunity to learn as much in depth, useful information on Coyotes and ‘Cats as Coyote Days.

There will be detailed information on locations, habits, and the thought process to be successful.

Coyotes and ‘Cats from A-Z

20 demos in 2 days, plus a great round table on Friday evening.

$20 for 18 years old and up, and for anyone interested in the next level, the bargain of a lifetime

If you can only get away for a day, the weather and grounds are perfect for throwing a sleeping bag in the pickup and sleeping out under the stars (I’ve done lots of it)

Again, on August 16th and 17th, all tracks lead to Lusk, Wyoming

Coyote Days 2024 !

Thanks, John

I've been there twice now and can say that you can't help but learn something new. Even when your not at a demo your surrounded by like minded people who are willing to share their experiences and knowledge. After two days of immersion, you'll have plenty to think about on the ride back home! Best and cheapest investment in trapping you could possibly spend!

Weather forecast looks good.

Lows in the lower 50s, highs mid to high 80s. 85 to 90 in Wyoming is very tolerable with the low humidity

Packing up the truck now John, see you in a few days.

Nice Buckle ! My only complaint has been the sound system, so its great to hear you've updated it. Looking forward to coming again.

Just got back home from the hospital. Doctors aren't sure yet what the problem is yet, more test coming this week.
So disappointed we won't be able to make Coyote Days, was really looking forward to meeting up with friends and making new ones. But secretly, will miss the fabulous steak dinner and auction.

I’m sorry to hear that Scott, hopefully next year!

Quick update: I left early this morning to look for some coyotes, and I see the fairgrounds is fairly full of pickups, horse trailers, and campers

There is an Oldtimers Roping going on right now, but most, if not all will pull out early on Thursday I’m told

See everyone soon!

Have a good day

John

It looks like it’s going to be fairly hot in Lusk this weekend. High of 93 predicted for Saturday. My nephew and I are heading out tomorrow morning and after checking in at the motel we will be going to the Lusk Pizza Restaurant.

Sounds like the appropriate town/county to host the event. I have an antelope shoulder mount in my house, and when asked where I killed it, I reply, “the least populated county, in the least populated state, of the U.S.

Grandpa- I found out this morning that The Pizza Place is closed Thursday-Saturday

No idea why, but that’s 2 years in a row, on a weekend that they do thousands of dollars in business.
I’m not happy about it, and will go in and visit with them on Monday

Both the Silver Dollar Bar and The Pub (next to the Pizza Place) have put on extra staff those evenings

Dixieland, Yes, it is accident why I moved here
Unfortunately, a lot of bad element and non productive people are moving here

Gonna load up tonight and head out in the morning.
