Just bought me a few dozen coil springs. What is the quickest way to get some rust cover on these so I can dye them? OR is it ok to just pressure wash the oils off and use them out of the box without dyeing and waxing?

Remove the oil, then spray them down with vinegar to rust. Or just pressure wash them and wax them.

What do you plan on trapping with these new traps?

This right here. If it was me I would probably just clean them up and wax them, although I've also set them in a water and vinegar mix overnight to promote a surface rust to dye also. If you are using them for canines and they are going to be covered with dirt it doesn't matter, if I was going to be using them for something where I might be setting them exposed I would rust and dye them so they weren't shiny.

Just go to the car wash,,, rinse them off,,, and go throw them in the yard,,, they will start rusting,,, you can speed it up if you soak the washed traps in a 5 gallon bucket of 50/50 vinegar and water for 2 days and then throw them out in the yard.

I never understood the reason for rusting a perfectly good trap. Clean up your traps and then wax them no need to rust and dye.

Run them through the dishwasher to remove the oil.
Then if you want to dye them a week or so sitting outside will give you a light coat of rust. Or paint them instead.

There is really no need to "rust" traps. If you have them underground, it won't matter if they are purple polka dotted.

Just clean the factory oils off and wax 'em.

I like the vinegar and water method to degrease; and then dip in floor wax. I don’t like rust either.

I do for water traps always. Don't want a shiny mink trap in front of my pocket set
Also like my land traps colored in case hard rain or winds expose a tiny bit of pan or jaw. Don't have a shiny spot showing through.

I’ve got several dozen MB 650’s that have never been dyed, only waxed . Others have been dyed since they were new( never rusted ) and are very dark . They will get a little rust every year, clean them up and re-dye and re-wax , they will get dark.

No reason to rust and dye or wax your water traps. Just dip In paint and your good to go.
I just did 100 1 1/2 coils today getting ready to sell them on the 24Th
