Cool idea. I've thought about using rawhide after watching how my dogs fight over it. Just cover the bone with some grass or whatever ground cover you have to make it legal.. they'll find it. It's the same concept as the pipe dream set.

I agree, the exposure is just a visual attraction. A small piece of white plastic would work as well. Hide the rest, it will be discovered.

Every state's laws are different, Montana you can use exposed bait, Idaho that would be a legal set with a bleached bone, because bleached bones are not considered bait and can be used exposed. A rawhide bone? I don't know, one game warden might give you a pass on it, the rule is written primarily to avoid raptor bycatch and he might say you were following the spirit of the law, but the next one would say that rawhide is edible and write you a ticket.

There are bones all over the place on my trapline,good thing there is no law that says you cant set near bones.

I don't think I would consider a bone "bait" I would put food lure on it.
