Saturday I was up and down a bunch working on a truck didn't feel dehydrated but probably was some
woke up Sunday 0400 with double leg cramps both legs calf and thigh
I really hadn't over done it but I must have been a bit dehydrated and short on electrolytes it was a dry cooler high of about 84 day with a bit of a breeze so you don't realize your sweating.
I had read about runners taking pickle juice shots a while back. they actually did some research into it found it doesn't actually need to have time to work , the receptors in your stomach tell the brain that your body is getting what it needs and that alone calms the cramps.
so you can get like 3 minute relief
I had gotten my great aunt an Amish Cramp Remedy about 15+ years ago she would get them after a day of doing a day of drives hunting I brought it to deer camp that year, she said it worked so well she found the info on the bottle and wrote and ordered a case. she got my Grandma taking it and both swore by it , it seemed to be mostly apple cider vinegar and some salts and minerals
taste awful but fast relief
I rolled out of bed stretched some so I could hobble to the kitchen , we had finished a jar of pickles with hamburgers Saturday night and the jar and juice were still sitting on counter.
chugged some of that and a couple minutes it was like a wave of relief. I had never had relief from drinking something so fast and I even was able to go back to sleep till the dogs wanted out.
later in the morning I took the rest of the jar of juice ran it through a coffee filter into a mason jar, labeled it pickle juice and put it in the fridge so I know where it is when I need it. a little easier to drink that way and cold.
so as you get up and down making a pile of dirt holes and pounding in stakes and sets , remember 3-4oz of pickle juice is a great cramp remedy.

It also helps relieve the burn from acid reflux. Seems strange but sipping on pickle juice helps relieve the burn.

Anything acidic when I have heart burn or reflux makes it worse. I'm glad it helps you but someone trying it for the first time should drink just a sip to make sure

a little experince , there are two types of acid reflux when you don't have enough acid and when you have way to much not enough the muscle that closes off the stomach from the esophagus doesn't detect a reason to close , adding some acid tells it to close. for the vast majority , the opposite is the case much of that seems to be eating sugar and carbs at least it was for me , cut the carbs and reflux all went away your flooding the body with fuel and it needs so much more acid to break it all down. it is like that jet fuel that needs a catalyst to burn , the stuff they used in the SR71 black bird the problem is the catalyst is not very stable and so you need to get just enough in our bodies too much acid makes a bunch of problems

I've made a historic drink called switchel, or haying water. Basically apple cider vinegar and molasses. Pretty much the same thing.
Glad you found an easy solution. I have heard of Switchel or hayers brew basically 18-19th century Gatorade the costumed employees at 6 flags in Gurnee IL found drinking the pickle juice was a way to recover from being in a hot costume in the heat of summer. I had a couple cousins who worked there in the 90s. and since the pickles were sold the juice was free and would otherwise be poured down the drain also a cheap way to go.

A hunting buddy told me last year eating mustard will stop leg cramps. He always has mustard packets from the fast food restaurants along with him. I have not tried it..
I've tried the mustard. Instant relief.

ACV, mixed as mentioned, with a wee bit of quality salt , in a drink of some type of fruit juice, makes it go down well.
And it is the perfect electrolyte drink.
I usually put a bit of real maple syrup , or stevia, for sweetener, but as Snow said, molasses is great too. Also, Agave nectar.
Kept cool in the fridge, mixed ahead of time in a gallon glass jar, it is wonderful anytime.

Reason it helps fool the brain is you are puking up your guts and the body focuses on one pain at a time.... I sorta like drinking pickle juice I might be broke I can't do anything sweeter than light beer any more

biofreeze gets the cramps under control fast. Best to drink lots of water and take an electrolyte packet to try and avoid cramps.

Friday night I had the worst leg cramp that I’ve ever had. Hobbled to the refrigerator and grabbed the French’s yellow mustard. A couple of tablespoons of that and about 2 minutes was all it took.
