So had to drop one project I was saving for,half them funds went to savings and there other half , well was finally able to finish piecing together the replacement for my train wreck of a .22 hornet.
Anyhow when it comes to .22 cal bullets 50gr and under , what's eveyone favorite for like coon and grey fox and down ? Got some 40gr vamxs coming with the dies since they where on sale and have a decent lil mix at the house but wanted to see what y'all like

I am not a fan of vmax. Not all plastic tipped bullets are the same. My hornet likes nosler ballistic tips. 40 grain. Sew a lot less. Most of the time they dont come out even on red fox. Thick hided greys or coons I doubt you get any exits. I can not remember a bobcat exit either.

I shoot the 40 vmax and that’s about it. Great for coyotes couldn’t tell you about greys.

I shot 50 gr v-max on one hunt with my .223. Never again! Cratered on impact! Some were even beyond my skill with needle and thread!

Sierra 40 gr hps out of my swift turn ground hogs into red mist.
Went to 50 grainers figured at 3800 fps would be easier on my barrel.

I would watch mid south for their 2nds or their branded sp or hp. On sale they are a good enough bullet on game at or near fmj prices. At least wee back when I had my press cranking and trigger finger geting exercised. I still have a few boxes of 2 k unopend on the bench for my 5.56.
