I've cut and base of tail, around the body pull a little. Place the tail under you boot and pull straight up will most time make a clean pull to the head and feet cut off toss. And worry about the britches after. This is how I do it also. But be sure to cut through the two white tendons that run down the top of the tail. Along the skin. At least that how I was taught. Takes less than a min just guessing to get the hide off. My 11 and 14 year old take longer they have not done as many obviously.

Yes PF, those cans take it to another level...Satisfying sound hearing that skull crack! Bullet hiting I'd louder thwn the rifle shooting and the thump hiting the ground loudest of all. So much more enjoyable

I use an almost identical 452 with a dead-air mask. With CCI standard or SK Standard, less noise than a pellet rifle.

I use an almost identical 452 with a dead-air mask. With CCI standard or SK Standard, less noise than a pellet rifle. Great little rifles aren't they?...That 452 pictured has a 1 lb trigger, and the suppressor is a SWR Spectre that is quieter as you say than a pellet rifle. Winchester subsonic hollowpoints (Australian manufacture) and the scope is a Leupold VX-2 4×12 AO with fine duplex....Fun stuff! My 11 year olds rig is a 455 scout, Burris full field 2 and liberty essence. At least I think that is the optic on it it's that or a vx 3 but I don't remember what price went on what gun.. I like the 452 barrel is threaded to the receiver and not slid in and held with screw in the side like the newer ones . But the 457 has an American style safety I like.

Every now and then they'd drop one and it'd bang off the metal.roof and scare the crap.out of us My neighbor say's that's how he knows fall is here, walnuts banging on the barn roof! I like to wait a few minutes after killing a Squirrel, to let the woods settle down, That's when I clean my Sq's, Lots easier to peel when fresh.

[quote=TreedaBlackdog]Clay how about some tips on shucking them fast? Josiah and I need help skinning them quicker.[/quote I make a slit across the back in the middle, slip my fingers under the hide, and pull apart. Then I cut the wrist/ankles to remove feet/paws and the hide. Then slip a knife down the neck hole and cut open all the way back, scoop out guts, sever intestine and they all fall off. Swish the carcass in the air for a minute, this will cool the meat down quick, and keep it sweet and tasty. Important on a hot summer day. Easy Peasy!

Everyone needs to use the skinning method that works best for them. But I guarantee that I can skin them faster and they’ll have zero hair on the meat with the tail method. Folks have their preference when it comes to squirrel hunting on methods, guns, skinning, cooking, etc. That’s what makes it so much fun!
