Tigrero by Sasha Seimel, it is mainly about jaguar hunting in South America, but has a lot of other stories mixed in. Good read right there! “Taller than trees” by J. Davis

Reading some Theodore Roosevelt "Forgotten Tales and Vanished Trails" - new book has some magazine articles and other papers not found in his other books. Interesting reading, he had some very good ideas on conservation and protection of America both wildlife and lands
Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure

Some I read lately: "trapping the boundary waters", " traplines north", "chronicles of a long liner"(Gary Jepson) and the new EJ Daily book.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Any more of you guys put "Wild Life", "The Last Hunt", "Long Way Home" on your lists? What did you think?

I liked the Jack Carr books about navy seal James Reece, maybe fiction but he seems to nail our country correctly. Latest was Red Dawn Morning, start from the beginning of series , only been writing about ten years.

For those of you have said you like Where the Red Fern Grows, be sure to read the books by Jim Kjelgaard as well as you'll surely like them. The Big Red series, Stormy, Haunt Fox, Snow Dog, Wild Trek, and Swamp Cat all have trapping in them, as I'm sure many others do as well that I'm forgetting at the moment. He's my favorite author of all time. X2

Jack I very much liked your autobiography, haven't tried any of your fiction yet, but the way your nonfiction read I expect to like it as well.

Has anyone read Wings in the Wind: the Armistice Day Storm of 1940 by Jon Steffes? It's a story about the 1940 storm that killed about 200 people, about half of them duck hunters. Jon's father survived the storm.
I heard about the book and it's now in my ABE Books cart.
He has several books out. The other one that sounds interesting is 45 Days: A Prequel to Wings in the Wind: The Armistice Day Storm of 1940. About to guys who decide to trap the 1937 Minnesota season in an effort to feed their family's. I'm looking for a decent copy of that one.
Eh...wot?

There should've been a movie about that storm.Never could figure out why that storm and the disaster that followed it never got the exposure it deserved.

Dog Days of Summer are here. No hunting seasons currently open where I live. Time for a good read.
1. Old Man and the Boy - probably the 10th time... 2. Where the Red Fern Grows - always a good read 3.Any Steinbeck; notably "Sweet Thursday"
Whatcha reading? The Old Man and the Boy might be my favorite book of all time. I've read it three times now. I've grown fond of repeating some of the Old Man's sayings and words of wisdom to new, young hunters when they join me and the dogs for the first time. Thanks to your recommendation Sweet Thursday is now on my list. I should probably reread Cannery Row first though. I just finished Sweet Thursday. Good reading and an interesting sequel to Cannery Row (nine years later).
Eh...wot?
