Just got this in the email, know some of y'all love the .22 mag

Been WAITING for 7 months for a 20" 22 WMR upper from Bear Creek.
Been out of stock since then.

Plus, they jacked prices across the board 2 weeks ago.

So bought a 21" Trakr in 22 mag from Buds instead.
Was $179, free shipping, and $15 transfer.

Ugly thing, weighs nothing.
Gets good reviews.

But mine seems very particular about ammo.

unfortunately , bear creek decided to answer that call , so it should be meh but it might be something to start with

time will tell

good thinking with the threaded muzzle maybe they can make a model next with a lighter weight barrel , something fluted to take out some of the weight

because a light fast handling rifle , that isn't light sort of defeats the purpose

I've taken a lot of groundhogs and fox with my Marlin 57 over the years. It's the only lever gun I've ever owned.

Bought a Winchester pump 22mag in 63. They were first made in 61. Killed a lot of little critters with it. Still shoots well but only like 40gr ammo.
Was able to out shoot my friends with their 22lr. Used to love that. Still have it.

Have you guys checked out magnum research .22 magnum? Not cheap but seems like the way to go

Ruger discontinued the 10/22 MAG because the receivers didn't hold up and cracked. I have seen two of them myself. The Marlin auto was built like a tank and weighed as much as one too.

I have looked , I have a hard time dropping 800 on a 22mag before optic

I have a Ruger 10/22 mag with a receiver still intact. Great shooting gun. I wish they had spent some time improving the design rather than ditching it. It's a great gun!

I have a Remington semi-auto 22 mag. While I do miss shooting it, I prefer my flatter shooting, more accurate 17HMR bolt gun.
Having said that, if I was in a combat situation and had to choose which one to bring down the threat in a hurry and for good, I would grab the semi-auto 22 magnum. It's like shooting a round of buckshot, except you are directly in charge of where each projectile makes impact.

I had a nolt action marlin 22 mag it was picked on ammo. It was to much I thought for squirrel and a bit small for other things I would us it for when I have .223 to use. So I sold it. Never saw any advantages to them
Probably just my style of shooting and hunting I have had a few frinend that think they are the the best thing ever.

I have a savage 22 mag bolt action. Put a 3-9 vortex copper head on it. Shoots aspirin size group at 75 yards. The monstourous black gum tree in my father’s back yard was infested with starlings. Killed 11 out of 11 shots off their picnic table one morning. Using a small trash can with a barstool cushion on top for a rest.

this is why I can't seem to ever pull the trigger on one

I make 223 for about the same price and it will work
have other centerfires that would work also

22mag seems like a strait wall cartridge type thing , they make a ton of sense if your law states you can't use a centerfire and you need more power than a 22lr

a fit in the rules type of gun more than it's actual use range effectiveness dictates.

unless your really trying for a no exit holes fur gun but with limited range

I have one, very nice gun, functions flawlessly. But it just doesn't get the accuracy I was expecting and would like. I've messed with it quite a lot and 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards is the best I can get out of it. Realistically that is good enough, but I've shot some absolute tackdriver 22 mags and for that kind of price I expected better. Very comfortable gun, and very light, like I said, functions flawlessly, just not happy with the accuracy. And the fact for that kind of money you can't get it with iron sights, I think all guns should come with iron sights,

it is not uncommon at all for a blow back design to give up some accuracy , moving parts , the bolt has started moving early in the firing of the round.

1.5 isn't bad at all and given that is pushing effective range it will work.

I do like Irons as an option on everything but I get why they don't the portion of the population that can use them effectively is small and the factory offerings are typically not good any way.
it adds machine time which is more cost.
