Which is easier on adult chickens.

Either is fine but I use the Crumbles.

I use pellets they seem to waste less of them.

Crumbles. It's easier for them, it seems. Especially on young ones or older ones.

That's my thought as well.

I use 100lb pellets mixed with 50lbs cracked corn

I use mash at all ages. It's cheaper.

Right now I’m using 50lbs crumbles and 50lbs scratch grain mixed together. I’ve used both pellets and crumbles, birds don’t seem to care but I prefer the pellets. They hold up better if their feed gets wet and less is wasted. Using crumbles right now because they were discounted.

My birds spend a good portion of their day pecking away and roaming the yard as well.

I've tried crumbles and pellets. I only use pellets, they don't waste much at all. With pellets they eat almost all that fall on the ground. With crumbles they wasted too much.

I never noticed enough difference to worry about it. Some of it depends on the feeder.
