I am helping someone that I have known for about all my life They are in the process of down sizing because they think it is time to get rid of things they no longer have a need for He was a serious trapper years ago but stopped when the fur market crashed in 1987 He had his traps stored in a clean dry area ever since When taking inventory we found some unexpected items Some are well know others I have never heard of or seen The trap in question is a No 2 Professional Trap Animal Trap Company is also stamped on the pan . It is a square jaw type coil spring trap Thanks for any ideas on what this is

The Professionals were made and sold by Cabela's if I remember correctly. They were a decent trap but have little collector value and are just "users".

I have nothing clever to put here.

Yup, made in Japan for Cabelas. Came in 2 sizes, #2 coil and #3 coil. Both old style square jaw and low levels.

Supposedly made by the same factory that made traps for Herters. If you look at the underside of the trap you will see a letter and two numbers. C74, for example. C= Cabelas. 74 = 1974, the year the trap was made.

Wissmiss I have not heard from you in a while A few years ago you helped me out when we did a business transaction involving a box full of misc traps I think there was one or 2 King Bee traps included in that package And as usual you know traps inside out The word JAPAN is stamped on the base plate And it appears the number on the base plate is 77 But it is very hard to make out with my old man eyesight Some wissmiss thank you also for the info you supplied today
