Random thought....but has anyone else never bought a milk crate ? Always just seem to find them on the side of the road or something but do t think I've EVER actually just bought a milk crate.

The ones that are bought in stores are nowhere the strength or quality of real milk crates.

I got 3 full fresh dug potatoes.

I have never bought any milk crates. I would like to have about 50 of the good milk crates, to hold tall tree pots. I wish I could find them on the road. People want pretty high money for them on Craigslist and Marketplace.

Milk crates are great, you’re right though, never have bought one. I’ve got a couple dozen around here I know.

Here’s a good tip, a grill sized propane tank fits snug into a milk crate. I put mine in one to transport it in the bed of my truck, never worry about it tipping over!

I have bought all my milk crates. Pa law criminalizes the unauthorized use of milk crates that have a company's name stamped on them. It's like a couple hundred dollar fine and jail time if caught with someone else crates. I know of two local fellas that got nabbed with them

Seems they're like rail road plates , if you find them , you use them.
Cripe, they leave them everywhere.

I always try and grab the ones that are not marked property of X or that X is a defunct dairy

many stores will call the dairy 2x wait 1 month then give them to the guy who buys their buckets if they are not picked up.

I didn't even know they SELL milk crates, lol, although we have more than a few.

I do the same with the propane tanks.I also have many milk crates full of traps.

I had as many as 50 odd milk crates for freezing crab bait, a milk crate holds a bushel. I gave a friend of mine most of them, still have some around filed with stuff along with those black vegetable totes, I've heard stories of it being illegal to own company branded crates, never heard of anyone here that's had a problem, heck, every police cruiser has at least 2 in their trunk, lol

I have managed to collect about a dozen of the ones that are 2x the length of the square style (rectangle shaped)

Have about 50 around here over the years use them for lots of stuff I have 4 on my atv now for hauling 4 pails of bear bait

Real milk crates are hard to get unless you steal em from a store or restaurant/cafeteria. I've found several along the river after floods. Usually inherit them as a result of buying something else. At shows of I buy taps that are in a crate, I ask if the crate is included or how much extra for the crate

Had a state trooper confiscate a couple out of the back of my truck once that were marked Property of whatever dairy.

Always handy to keep a couple in the truck box for bribing the traffic cops.

Before the wussafication of America the milk crates we handled at the local grocery store were all the 6 gallon versions, made with steel. By the late seventies they were made with plastic and then they went to the 4 gallon version . A few years ago I was on the hunt for a 6 gallon steel version for the front of my buggy and had to settle for a plastic model. Where did they all go ?

I have several, bought them all at garage sales for $1-2

Never see any laying on the road, lots of other "treasures" but no milk crates

Saved me 175 bucks. Cost of rack and basket for e bike

Small grinder is good to take off the lettering on milk crates. Heard it from a friend of course.
